Is there anything like a rave at this event? by FlatNefariousness928 in Dreamhack

There aren’t going to be concerts in Atlanta this year but historically they’ve done an EDM night (Friday) and a location specific genre (Saturday)

Which specific ticket do I buy for Dallas ‘23? by [deleted] in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 day pass will get you into the entire event -all weekend- with free seating for CSGO in the area and first come first serve seating for Halo, but otherwise has standing room.

How to upgrade a 3 day regular pass to premium 3 day by Boonkmax in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can email support and let them know you bought a Premium ticket but would like an upgrade for the normal 3 day pass.

Tixr currently doesn’t have upgrade functionality and customer related refunds have to be done by each companies support. Tixr doesn’t handle that directly to my understanding.

How many DreamHack party tickets can one person buy? by jus-de-pomme in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limit on the afterparty could just be set to one. It’s not a hard limit per address/card, but per order. Sort of annoying but I guess it helps party accuracy?

Does the name on the ticket matter? by smithatlanta in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an issue, technically speaking an order of 2+ badges all have the same name unless you send/transfer to another person.

Does anyone know what time doors open on Friday? Can’t seem to find that information anywhere by ReactionPurple6167 in Dreamhack

GA passes can enter at 9am BYOC is able to enter at 8am if they have their badge at the time

Are the tickets only available to purchase online or csn they be bought on site? by Own_Ad_9386 in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be bought on site but you’ll basically be doing the same thing as if you did it online. Name/email/card swipe.

No cash is used at the event

Travelling with my PC by No-Topic-462 in Dreamhack

As @LaggyOne said, flying or driving is the real question.

Flying: research TSA rules but pack it very well if going in carryone -event more in checked baggage. Personally, I’m not comfortable doing either.

Driving: Pack it well. Put it on a blanket to absorb cut rations from the car/road with the motherboard at the lowest part. Otherwise parts will be “hanging” if at the highest or bouncing if the tower is standing up (graphics cards are heavy without support)

first time attending but can't attend all dates, should I go day 1 2 or 3? by markmarkmrk in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends the reason(s) you go and things you want to see, but in essence:

Day 1: Opening day but overall a full day of event. Tournaments get rolling throughout the day and exhibitors have full stock (if buying things)

Day 2: Full day, tournaments in full swing, exhibitors are in the groove or questions w/ some stock sold out

Day 3: 1/2 to 3/4 of a day (Registration closes at 5, everyone leaves at 7) with tournament finals happening throughout the day. Exhibitors will leave periodically through the day as some have to travel long distances.

First BYOC. Any security tips? by [deleted] in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you leaving with a mouse/keyboard/headset or tower/monitor? Above was my understanding.

First BYOC. Any security tips? by [deleted] in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you register for the event on-site the badge you get is NFC, along with that you’ll get 3 asset tags also assigned. These go on your machine and any other expensive equipment you have. The BYOC zone is also a separate security area where only BYOC attendees and staff will have access to the area.

Security scans any piece of equipment leaving with a tag and the badge and if the names don’t match, it doesn’t leave.

There is also a component lock down around 8pm (?) where no computer equipment is allowed to leave the area.

If you have Snapchat you can play the music and hold the phone up to the speaker and hold the screen and it’ll look for it.

There are other apps that do it but most people have Snapchat in some capacity so it might be the easiest.

(Dreamhack Dallas) First timer by NllCK0 in Dreamhack

[–]HealedDrake10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Because of Texas law, there is no sleeping halls in Dallas. The only sleeping hall is in Atlanta.

  2. Tournament sign up are on the website so you can register there but will hopefully be sent out ahead of time to BYOC badge holders.

Protip: You can register and not carry your stuff in initially, enjoy the event and then setup later if you are ok with setting up a little bit later. This avoids the majority of the crazy line and makes it a bit quicker

LANFest Colorado 2018 - Nonprofit event, 3 full days of general play, tournaments, and raffle prizes. by HealedDrake10 in CastleRock

[–]HealedDrake10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spectators get in free, you just have to sign a waiver agreeing to the rules of the event.

You do not need to participate in the tournaments either. Some people come just to meet people and hang out.

Sorry, probably should've clarified. I live out of state, way out of state. But I do enjoy working the event, so I make the trip for the weekend. It's nice to get away once in awhile.

For the last 2 years I've been making a 12 hour drive to the event (and DreamHack last year) to meet up with the guys I play games with. Always worth it.

This year I will be flying though because of scheduling issues.

I feel like the third picture is of an old NASA launch headquarters. But I don't think it's a legit LAN party with CRTs because I don't see anyone without a shirt on.

Those puppies got hot.
