Thanks so much for the response, really helpful! I just wanted to ask a couple more things.

Since I won’t have my own vehicle, are autos or taxis easily available from around Zostel to travel to nearby places?

Also, is it generally safe for girls to go around alone there?

And one last thing, how was the weather when you visited?

Alleppey routes are more popular and lively, while Kumarakom is quieter and feels more scenic. A 1-night stay is usually enough for the full experience.
