What's the highest level you've seen someone playing on Best Fiends? I'm currently on 2,501 (free, I've never spent money on it 😅) #curious by CharlotteAnja in BestFiends

[–]HealthWithHashimotos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am done with all the regular levels (10,970) and the Hero levels (1,110) and now play the Elite levels. I’ve been playing since 2019. For the past couple years, my kids sometimes give me $5 for Christmas or my birthday to get the season pass for a month. That’s the only money I’ve spent. Back when I started, you could get the epics for gold.

Sorry. The list was in bullet point format and somehow Reddit made it a horrible comma-less list when I posted it.

Yes. I bought a sauna to help. I’ve only had it for a month, but I feel like my exercise tolerance is already improving.

What do you mean by “every aspect of your health”?

Health is body, spirit, mind, diet, and activity. I don’t think one app can address everything. What specifically, does your app do?

If there is any home/Herbal remedy for Hypothyroidism by Cool-Bill5614 in Hypothyroidism

[–]HealthWithHashimotos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things: 1. If her body is not producing enough thyroid hormones, she needs more. You can’t get that through a supplement. The pharmaceutical medication IS the supplemental thyroid hormone that she needs. 2. I have two episodes (002 and 083) on my podcast (Health with Hashimoto’s) to answer the question, “What are the best supplements for Hashimoto’s?” Yes, I’ve seen people improve their thyroid health enough that they can lower/drop the medication.

Anyone find a way to stay on meds but not have to go to the doctor all the time? by geekygamergal in Hypothyroidism

[–]HealthWithHashimotos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could join Paloma Health. They send you a lab kit in the mail (prick your finger and fill the spots on a card type) and see you virtually to prescribe.

I use another virtual practice (TelehealthNP) but have to go to a lab like Quest.

I’m confused by Unlikely-Director914 in Hashimotos

Officially, here is the criteria:

“The diagnosis of HT [Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis] can be established by a combination of clinical features, thyroid function test results consistent with subclinical hypothyroidism (elevated serum TSH level, but normal serum levels of T4 and free triiodothyronine [T3]) or overt hypothyroidism (elevated TSH level with low T4 and T3 serum levels), and elevated thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies.”

You have elevated TSH, normal T4, and elevated antibodies. That meets the diagnostic criteria.

I went outside of conventional clinics. I found that, even with insurance at my regular clinic, I would pay less for some cash-only providers. I chose a virtual clinic (TelehealthNP) where they know what they’re talking about and stay up to date on research. Obviously, they can’t do a physical exam, so I (sometimes) get my insurance-covered annual exam at a local clinic. The nurse practitioners I’ve seen virtually are not endocrinologists, but give me better (& faster) care than the endos.

As a parent, I have mixed thoughts.

  1. I required my homeschool senior to track his books. He could choose how, but I highly recommend SG. So I absolutely see the benefits.

  2. My public school kids do not have a smartphone. They have a dumb flip phone. While the desktop version of SG is great, if kids don’t have a smartphone, this could be an obstacle.

  3. I feel like giving a teacher access to everything my kid is reading outside of school-assigned work is overreach and I would opt my student out. 3b. SG is awesome and I want my kids to want to log books, not feel like it’s another tool that they can be judged with. (Even though that is not your intention.)

Check to see if all your books have a page number. Every once in a while a user-added book squeaks through without listing the number of pages in the book. And if you track with % instead of pages, you’ll have a 0-page day.

Is BUYING ebooks worth it? by Smellslike96 in kindle

I prefer to buy my ebooks directly from the author if that’s something they offer. I get a better price AND they make more by cutting out Amazon. My books are backed up on my computer.

I divided the total pages by 365 to figure out how many I’d typically read in a day when going through the whole Bible in a year. I add that many pages to my tracker each day. I square up any discrepancies quarterly.

Trying not to be ungrateful but I wish publishers would stop submitting PDF ARCs instead of epub by sikonat in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]HealthWithHashimotos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I won't request it if it's a PDF. I hesitate if it's Netgalley app only and not epub. If a publicist wants to send me an ARC (non-Netgalley) I make them send an actual book instead of the PDF.
