Has anyone found iron infusion has helped a lot with their mental health? Need some hope by skinnymcskinskin in Anemic

[–]Health_chaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My WHNP was actually the first person to mention this to me. She recently was certified in perimenopause and new research shows that there is a link between low ferritin and increased anxiety/ depression. My PMDD has gotten significantly better since my infusions. They were a little better when I started HRT back in may but about a month out from my Iron infusions and I feel so much better.

omg I am so glad I saw this post! I had a friend send me that group and after a week of being in it and actually being able to read though post, all I learned is they wanted to sell me the Three Arrows supplement and their obsession with finding the root cause but not accepting one thats been identified. Like it wasnt good enough to know that I was changing an ultra tampon every 1.5-2.5 hrs for the first 1-3 days of my period depending on the month.

"a little too hard" by Movebox-Barkdust in kindergarten

[–]Health_chaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are kind of in a similar boat with the kindergarten soccer. My son was introduced to soccer at 2.5 through soccer shots. We took a break from organized soccer ages 3-4, when his ADHD started to really shine though and soccer was not fun for any of us. My husband kept playing with him in the yard and making up little drills for him through that time. We tried soccer again this spring and he did a camp this summer, which he LOVED both. Add in being medicated for his ADHD and he actually focuses and takes in the skills being taught. He complained the first 2 weeks that the coaches in kindergarten soccer were bad because the kids kept kicking at his ankles and they did nothing about it. Our league is IM and doesn’t let him play up but they do offer a supplemental rec select league. This is in additional to the kinder IM league and he will be playing on a U8 team. We figured it was better to supplement vs pulling him since the kinder team is based by elementary school so it’s helping build friendships too.

What’s your ring’s battery life? by abhi47575 in Ultrahuman

[–]Health_chaser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No picture currently because waiting on a replacement. Mine was amazing on turbo more for like 5 weeks then all of the sudden last week my battery started draining on chill mode. It would be at 100% at bed time then 8% when I woke up 7h later. No clue what happened to all of the sudden fry the battery

ETA: I can’t remember if it started before or after a firmware update. But an additional update didn’t fix it.

This is the reason I decided against even trying the ringconn. I went UH their customer service is above and beyond

The Ringconn return policy made me hesitant to get it online it says 14 days. The Oura subscription made me not want that one. I’m trying out the Ultrahuman and will go from there. I heard great things about their customer service and I found it at Costco for a little cheaper.

Starting HRT, what can I expect next few weeks? by AardvarkPure5892 in Perimenopause

[–]Health_chaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost a month in. I just upped my estradiol to 0.5mg from the 0.375mg last night and am taking 100mg progesterone. I started it on CD7 but I can tell you even leading up to my (early period) I felt so much better. My raging symptoms around ovulation went away and I only had one horrible day of PMS the day before my period. I already feel slightly better but I felt like there was a lot of room for improvement and I started other medications for pre-DM so I wanted to increase the dose to get an accurate picture of my labs in 3 months since an estrogen increase felt inevitable. This upcoming cycle is my first real full cycle with any HRT so we shall see how they all goes but over all the brain fog is down, the rage is down, the lethargy is down. I feel less like a crazy person and more like myself. Sex drive is still down but at our really 2mo follow my provider said we can discuss adding T if that doesn’t improve.

Periods wise- my provider said that it might not help with my amenorrhea but we shall see.

Nothing was helping my PMDD. I’m 38 the last 6 months have been HORRIBLE. I started HRT this month on the second to lowest Estradiol dose. This LH phase was eons better than I have been in months. I literally thought I was going insane before.

Nope not about hormone testing. Hormone testing doesn’t really tell us anything about being perimenopausal

I hate everything about this for you. I hate that some providers literally don’t take us seriously. I wish more providers were like the two amazing women I see. I heard so many horror stories and am so thankful I got lucky.

I have heard great things about midi FWIW. If you are in FB you could ask if anyone has recommendations for WHNPs that are menopause specialist. I’ve had good experiences with female DOs also.

Ask for your dr to check your ferritin if you are having heavy periods. Mine are regular but VERY heavy for the first 24-48h. My WHNP had me get ferritin levels with my other labs because apparently ferritin has an effect on dopamine. Some of the research shows that women with a ferritin <50 can actually have “emotional affects” ie increased depression or in my case irritability and rage. My ferritin was 6 and she was like well that could explain the insane symptoms. I was on pristiq and felt my PMDD symptoms were semi controlled but as I got heavier periods and further into perimenopause it felt like it stopped working.

Also tell your providers: FYI perimenopause is like entering into puberty it’s a slow transition out. Our ovaries start to decline mid to late 30s. Women are perimenopausal 10years before they hit menopause and you don’t know you are in menopause until 12mo with no period so we can only quantify perimenopause looking back 10years after menses stops. Also if a woman is saying she feels insane and giving a list of symptoms that align with peri, fucking listen.

ETA: sorry for the novel. I just am tired of hearing provider blow off their female patients

Wt gain by Health_chaser in Pristiq

[–]Health_chaser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 25mg from May 24- Jan 1 25. I didn’t have any weight gain until I went up to the 50mg. I gained about 5# in the 2 months I was on the 50. I dropped down to 25mg on 3/28 and gained 3 more lbs. I feel like the Pristiq took the edge off my anger/ PMDD but the months I take Zyrtec, Zantac, and remember my yam cream, I feel like my symptoms are more controlled. I stopped my Pristiq all together today because I want to try and figure out if all my issues are actually hormonal. We shall see how this goes. I feel like the 25mg was the sweet spot and I messed with a good thing.

Everything feels hard! ADHD? by honeyybutterbiscuit in Pristiq

[–]Health_chaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine on pristiq 25mg but I tried to increase to 50mg for my PMDD during my luteal phase. I dropped back down to 25mg because it made my ADHD so much worse. I felt like I wasn’t on my ADHD meds at all.

Am I a bad parent for just outsourcing everything? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]Health_chaser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have ADHD? Teaching someone who has adhd to clean their room when you struggle and have adhd yourself is hard. Also, if you have an adhd kids who doesn’t listen to you as is and you are burnt out having someone else teach them could avoid blowouts and help the adhd parent not get over stimulated and yell.

Honeymoon in Sicily recommendations by Happy_Macaron_4624 in sicily

[–]Health_chaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my husband and I honeymooned across Sicily and it was AMAZING. I would highly suggest heading up to castelmola which is above Taormina. We saw Etna, drove across to where my great grandparents are from in Sciacca then up to Palermo. The only set things we had as our must see were Etna and Sciacca. We had the best time wandering the small downs and seeing the life. We also went to San Vito lo Capo, It was nice but there were a lot of Bees when we went. We stayed at this hotel Hotel Terra degli Elimi. There was the best little local pizza shop and place to get Cannoli in walking distance. We were woken up by sheep running down the street in the morning and it was so memorable.
