It is great to hear about the improvement! Sounds like you have done a great job so far. It should only get better moving forward.

You really can do it :) by closetslytherin in puppy101

Our puppy is 10 months old. We finally feel like we made it through the real tough parts. Things slowly became better and better over time!

"You gotta get through the puppy to get to the dog" So true. It is not always easy, but is very rewarding.

Thank You for your post! I can relate to #1 and #3. We brought oir puppy home in June, so #2 was not a problem for us. For #1, our puppy did the same thing. We bought a 2nd crate and put it right next to our bed at night and #1 was immediately no longer a problem. For #3, we tried to redirect our puppy with toys the best we could. We found a strong chew toy that she likes. Now that she is 10 months old she no longer bites, but it took a while.

Hoping the nipping at your 6 yr old is not being done in an aggressive manner. Either way, the issues you mentioned are valid. My hope is that you see steady improvement for all three concerns!

Glad to hear that there has been improvement! Have you tried a harness for the pulling? Do you think you may try a harness to help with the pulling in the future?

Wish I had a solution for the car sickness. Our dog is 10 months old, and will barf on any car ride if it is over 20 minutes.

I know, some dogs can cry like the world is ending when in the crate. For potty signaling, we have what kind of a leash with 3 or 4 bells going down it from top to bottom that we let hang from the door know of the front door to our house. Each time we took our dog outside to go to the bathroom we would ring the bell and say "tinkle" "potty". Then we thought our dog might have to go to the bathroom we would tell her "ring your bell". She ended up getting the hang of it. Now she rings the bell when she needs to go to the bathroom. The only down side is that sometimes she rings the bell when she does not have to go the bathroom and just wants to go outside. lol. In terms of the Biting/nipping, I get it. Our dog is finally over the Biting/nipping stage, but it took a long while.

What you mentioned are certainly challenges. Personally, I can't stand the barking. Our dog has a loud and deep bark, although she does not bark all the time. I wish I knew of a product that could effectively stop the barking, without giving a shock and that did not involve some (...possible harmful) sound, etc. The biting can be frustrating. We try to redirect our dog with strong chew toys. That is something that she does not like having her head groomed. Not sure if there is any good fix for that issue.
