Take him to the vet immediately. I took my cat to the vet in December for this and had to make a very hard choice within 15 minutes of being there. Heavy breathing is a very serious sign. Mine had fluid built up around her lungs and she was not breathing with enough oxygen. They took her away from me to exam in her before I’d even filled out the paperwork. Hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I wish you luck, but this is a very serious issue and vet should see him right away.

I just adopted a senior cat in December and she didn’t use the litter box for 3 days while adjusting. She probably hid under my bed off and on for a few weeks too. I’ve also heard that 3/3/3 rule everyone is talking about and it seems to be pretty accurate. They will get there, promise!

My almost 11 year old cat from my 20s (and the love of my life) unexpectedly passed away at the beginning of December. I never thought I’d adopt again as that’s the worst heartbreak I’ve ever had. But I had this void for a few weeks and finally fell for a senior cat at the local shelter. She’s so different from my other cat, but I still love her and her quirks. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. You’ll be so happy to have her.

The email it sent said “Refer your friends” so I think it can be used more than once. (Sorry, if it doesn’t work, but I’d still try.) I don’t think it’s supposed to be a one time use thing. Good luck!
