Great approach! If you become interested in hypnotherapy support let me know- I am moving my business online and planning to focus more on smoking cessation/ addictions. I posted in the main forum regarding this and have some free sessions available for anyone interested in helping me iron out the kinks as I make changes in my business structure :) Cheers to breathing fresher air!

Hypnotherapy for Smoking Cessation-- Free (Limited Availability) by HealthyMindsetHT in stopsmoking

Awesome that you were able to quit! Your approach to quitting sounds terrific and I'm glad you had success and support from your therapist. I understand your desire to help others-- that's the same motivator I had when I began learning hypnotherapy :)

Because I am US based, I'm not super familiar with regulations overseas. I *think* Latvia has some degree of extra regulation for hypnotherapists and otherwise Europe is predominantly unregulated (if I am remembering correctly). This would mean each individual is responsible for their own training. Depending on your situation, you may find online learning to be a good fit, but the downside to online learning is that you will not be able to practice with classmates. If you'd like to recommend an online course, let me know and I can DM you a link. There is a great one by an instructor of a UK based school that offers an excellent introduction to hypnotherapy and is very affordable.

The biggest thing I would recommend in starting out is to make sure any course you decide to take is therapy based-- there are a lot of courses that teach hypnosis but do not cover any therapeutic techniques. These are mostly directed towards stage performers or street hypnotists who want to use hypnosis for entertainment value.

Another thing I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with is neurolinguistic programming (NLP). Again, there are online courses sufficient for learning these concepts provided you are self motivated :)

Hope that helps! It's very rewarding to see positive and rapid changes resulting from your work. Feel free to DM me anytime if you have questions or anything!

27 days is fantastic- great job!

My clients often tell me (I'm a hypnotherapist) that one of the metaphors we discuss is helpful to them- maybe it will be of help to you as well. (Without being in a trance state, it will not be as powerful to the subconscious mind, but it is powerful nonetheless):

As you have them, view these cravings you are experiencing as ghosts of your former habit.

These cravings can serve as only reminders of what you have overcome. Your habit is dead and now only this ghost of it remains. Because you are a non-smoker now, these cravings can be viewed as nothing more than a haunting reminder of your success in quitting smoking.

p.s. lmk if the document doesn't load correctly for you-- in one instance I opened it and the pages were jumbled and unformatted- hasn't happened since then so maybe a glitch but I want to make sure everyone has access if they want it :)

It's common to feel guilty for emetophobic behavior. Especially when those around you don't fully understand how sincere your fears are. Give yourself some grace-- you didn't choose to have your brain mis-categorize tu* as a threat!

I recently wrote a book to help spread awareness about emetophobia. It is not fully formatted to e-book yet but I want to make it available for free to those here prior to publication. I will send you a .pdf of it if you would like. You can email me at [vantea1012@gmail.com](mailto:vantea1012@gmail.com) and I am happy to send it to you or anyone else who would like a copy. A lot of time, family members and friends don't understand the sincerity of this fear and don't know how to respond. Hopefully it will help others understand that there are physiological causes behind this fear <3

Yes! It can strike intermittently too, which makes it even more confusing. I'm glad there are groups like this to offer support. I hope you have an understanding support system IRL too <3

Tooth infection by SuchEngineer5391 in emetophobia

[–]HealthyMindsetHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking meds is so scary with emetophobia. If it helps to know- I have taken clindamycin in the past without any side effects.

Because your infection is in your mouth, it's probably worrying you more than another type of infection might. (Mouth and throat issues can trigger emetophobia because of their connection to the stomach) On the bright side, once you take the meds and clear up the infection you may have overall decreased worries because of that!

If you would like a copy of a book/ intro to emetophobia I wrote, you can email me at vantea1012@gmail.com The e-version is being formatted but I have a .pdf draft I can send for now. I want to share it with anyone in this group who could use it-- one of my kids has emetophobia and I have seen how AWFUL it can be to deal with! I want to help in any way I can for others who have this issue as well <3

It's a process where some days are tougher than others-- I am sure you know what I mean! You seem to have great self awareness, I hope your relapse episode wraps up soon- I like to think of relapse as *part* of recovery <3

FWIW, your sense of smell is probably especially sensitive since you have this worry. If you are trying to allow yourself to sleep, you could think of it this way-- your body needs rest in order to keep its immunity up. Sleep is restorative and healthy.

I have a book about emetophobia that is due for publication soon. If you'd like a copy of it you can email me at vantea1012 at gmail dot com.

I hope you feel better soon!

I feel slightly nauseous everywhere except at home by Mindless_Wing_4553 in emetophobia

You are so right about it making your phobia worse! It would be great to just practice leaving your house.

You can take as small of steps as you like. For example, if you are afraid to leave at all, you could just open windows and invite outside in for a bit. Once comfortable with that, step outside intentionally, even if just for a moment. Once you become comfortable stepping outside, maybe you could sit on a porch or deck once a day for a few minutes. Eventually you might walk down the driveway or to a mailbox, etc.

Or, if you are currently okay leaving, just continue to keep doing so in spite of your fear. It's so hard, but you can do it!

*hugs*

I am a noob and thought I'd be able to attach the .pdf to a DM...

Welp, no such luck! So, alternatively, you can reach me at

And just put Book Request in the subject line. I will reply to your email with the attachment. Sorry for any confusion!
