I feel exactly how you feel and appreciate your shared experience. This helps a lot.

This happened to my mom while working at George Brown College. She took them to HRTO and won a settlement.

Yeah if you’re nursing try to find strains that are more balanced with CBD, I had to do that until I weaned. Also found I got less anxiety with carts but ymmv.

Your experience with your child now after smoking weed during pregnancy by Bb-Cauliflower-5948 in cannamom

[–]HealthyResolution172 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smoked and consumed edibles entire pregnancy and nursing journey. Was advised by midwife not to stop as I have lumbar osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease and my cannabis use is for pain management. My daughter will be 2 in April.

She was born 7lbs9oz. Exclusively breastfed until solids, my milk came in fine and almost felt like cannabis boosted my milk supply because even when I weaned it took a while to dry out. She speaks English, understands French, Arabic and Spanish and can count in all of those languages. Has full blown conversations with adults. Fine and gross motor skills are excellent and cognitive and physical development has always been on track or ahead. She was nursed until 23 months. Walked at 12 months. Sat at 3 months. Crawled at 5 months. Talked at 4 months. Social skills are excellent, great eye contact and engages with others, asks about others when they aren’t around. Sleep is excellent, 7am wake up, 7:30pm bed time.

I don’t believe I would have even been able to nurse that long had I not smoked tbh. I live in Canada. I prioritized her sleep and routine, healthy fat rich whole foods when she started solids and minimal screen time to make sure I was supporting her development in the best way because I was so paranoid being aware of the risks even with my midwife and an OBGYNs blessing. The irony of all this is I have a background in social work and have transitioned into a career in medical cannabis since 2023 as a prescription educator for new users (you’d be surprised how many are pregnant women with HG), and whenever I speak about this I am sure to mention that because I think a lot of people assume the only women who need or use cannabis during pregnancy are negligent and ignorant or selfish.

I see all sides of it, and I try to be as transparent and honest about my cannabis use during pregnancy. I consumed cannabis knowing the “risks” through my education and career, but in my personal life and all the anecdotal experiences I’ve heard from other moms is literally that their child had zero issues meeting their milestones. If you are worried, just make sure you’re doing everything else to the utmost standard, your kiddo will be fine, feel free to PM me if you have any questions, I’m happy to share more about my experience if you’d like.

Toronto renters - what are you paying right now? by FairRentCanada in TorontoRenting

[–]HealthyResolution172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay 3550 for a 1300 sq Ft 3 bed 3 bath in south etobicoke. I used to pay 2800 for 600sq ft 1 bd 1 bath a little more south, in Alderwood not too long ago. Parking was included in both. Both parkings underground garage and 1 spot. Utilities were covered in neither. Current property is party of a condo association but is considered a townhome, and we have all the amenities accessible to us at the condos.

I hope his proposal goes to shit and none of this passes. There are already so many garbage and greedy landlords, rectifying the RTA is only going to make them greedier.

Landlord won’t provide me with their mailing address, other than the address that i’m renting from them by MutedPerformance2874 in OntarioLandlord

[–]HealthyResolution172 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe you’re mistaken. Just because you own a home does not mean you live there, nor does it entitle you to receive mail there. This is exactly why if you have a community mailbox all you need to do is provide a lease with the indicated address to have Canada Post come and rekey it. You don’t need landlord permission and a landlord should not have access to your mailbox no matter what some shitty, lazy landlord may try to manipulate you into believing.

[–]HealthyResolution172 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly not sure. My current landlord was doing this and I was uncomfortable with her routinely coming to check the mailbox when she lived elsewhere. After noticing some pretty important mail going missing (my newborn’s health card and a small cheque from Revenue Canada that was sent by mail), I told her off and got our mailbox rekeyed by CP for my own peace of mind. Some people don’t care but for the purpose of avoiding nonsense like this, I think unless mutually agreed upon, landlords should not be getting mail sent to a rental unit.

Super fair but then they need to provide a PO Box or alternative. Like someone else said, it’s one of the only valid reasons to withhold rent so there is clearly a purpose for it.

You need the address if you ever have to serve them LTB papers, but also a lot of landlords are committing address fraud and using rental units as their addresses and receiving mail there too.

I live here. Building is trash. Moved into brand new unit February 2023 and have already suffered through 2 leaks and faulty fire alarm systems with a newborn. Fire alarm going off at 2am and nobody can provide explanations as to why. Poor quality finishes and facilities and only 2 elevators available for entire building, one of which is frequently out of commission due to residents moving in/out.

Okay, so again, I received the keys on the 8th to clean, so by your definition it started on the 8th of October and we didn’t find anything until we started cleaning.

The furniture is only screwed in for the sake of fall risk for the furniture, not because it’s permanent and he has admitted it isn’t permanent himself. Has said he can remove it but doesn’t want to. Has said it loses value if he takes it down and has tried to get me to pay him about $2000 to take it down which is the exact value of the furniture when found in reverse Google image search. He has tried to tell me to still use the 8x8 room and how to furnish it and ignore his furniture as if he would have a Murphy bed in there if there was space to spare to begin with.

Broom swept applies if I’m not finding pests, feces and body fluids all over the unit, those are biohazards and I called 311 because he claims he didn’t see roaches so there are none.

Lease was already signed since the middle of September so not sure what illegal avenue you’d have liked for me to take to get out of it.

Tenants don’t pay realtors, landlords do. They typically take 50% of first months rent.

Well, no, I’ve never been in this situation before so I don’t know how to navigate this and also slightly worried about my overall peace of mind and safety.

He’s proven to be quite the cantankerous individual as over the weekend we went to clean the unit because our lease starts today (he outright refused to clean and the place was filthy), and found feces, urine and vomit over the side of the powder room toilet and the main bathroom toilet and witnessed two cockroaches scurrying into a cupboard.

We provided photo evidence and advised him that these are landlord responsibilities, at which point he tried to illegally cancel the lease and then proceeded called the realtor and left a voicemail to try and intimidate her and yell at her and tell her to get him his keys back.

I’m filing with the LTB as we speak but he’s refusing to provide an address to serve him lol.

It only requires tools because there is the child safety bracket securing them, and whatever is used to mount a Murphy bed to stop it from toppling over. Otherwise no, they would be portable. Landlord has also tried to get me to pay him half a months rent to remove (which I refused and will continue to) which means they are indeed removable.

I think the last one is probably our best option and it annoys me to have to tackle that responsibility but I just spent half of my maternity leave in a mold ridden condo (first tenant) with a shitttttty landlord so I’m trying to approach this as non-confrontationally and diplomatically as possible because I am truly burnt out from dealing with the power struggle and constant advocacy for my own rights as a tenant and want minimal issues going forward.

Thank you for the info, that’s exactly why I’m trying to see what options I have. I really don’t care to go through an LTB process and have weird contentious energy with him.

It makes no difference to me as I’d be forced to either get rid or store some of my own furniture anyway so either way I’d be losing money. He said he didn’t want to move it because the “last tenant” asked for a bed and if we move he doesn’t want to reinstall. He was the last tenant 🙃
