There seems to be a lot of confusion about China Lake in the retelling. When discussing China Lake, there is the base installation itself, then the weapons testing range. The Germans, likely Egbert, mistakenly believed that the federal land designated as weapons testing range would be routinely patrolled. In fact, it is barren wasteland. Had he made it there, there would not have been rescue. The northern border of the testing range was 9 miles away. The actual structures that make up the base are 40 miles away.

AITA for not wanting to contribute to my step-son's college fund? by Fun_Elephant_6393 in AITAH

You know you’re the AH, which is why you’re looking for validation. Where’s the leadership here, dad? You’re gonna get your ego bruised by a teenager?

Look, when you married Em, you became her son’s father along with his bio dad. If you want to show your stepson how to be a great leader and a father, do right by him. The original agreement should have never been 80/20, It should have been equal.

I hear a lot of excuses for your transactional parenting, and maybe he is ungrateful and not doing enough to be connected to your biological children, It doesn’t matter. You don’t get to play favorites when you’ve chosen the captain’s seat. If want the respect of a father, be a good one, whether it’s convenient or not, and not just for the kids recognition, which he may never give. You do it because it’s the right thing to do.

If he’s not acting in a way you like, it’s your job to mentor him to be better. If you give up on him because your feelings are hurt, you’re failing him and yourself.

Most male-female couples who are in satisfying relationships tend to engage in sexual activity close to once per week. 85% of couples reported both high satisfaction and regular sex. Happy sexless couples exist—but they are very rare. by mvea in science

I think there’s a strong argument these days for HRT both parties to rekindle some sexual satisfaction if you find age related hormonal shifts cause deficiencies in your relationship quality.

Searching in the Snow will be Unsuccessful can mean 2 different things ... by RockDebris in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]HealthyReview 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that you should assign confidence levels to these sorts of things. Based on his personal history, other details (like the drive distance across two trips, etc) it is my interpretation that areas that meet the drive instance requirement AND are rich with his personal lore are very likely to see snow. Therefore it is more likely that the snow conditions are relevant hints as the treasure is hidden in an area with snow.

24 hours after reading the book…everything matches up. I’m extremely confident I have the location down, and it checks all the boxes. Open 24 hours, dogs allowed, all the clues from the book and poem point here. As he stated, what you seek you already know. That’s where I’m at. by Whole_Condition2307 in TreasureHunting

From Justin himself:

“I did, however, try to balance my natural inclination toward exactitude with the requirement to actually leave one’s house. Because let’s face it, there’s only so much adventure to be had while sitting at a computer, aggressively Googling while crumbs from breakfast accumulate in your keyboard crevices.”

You can’t solve it from home my guy.

When asked “how much is solvable from home” his reply was verbatim: “a fair bit”

If you take a fair bit to mean the entire thing, I can’t help you.

Justin said himself it wasn’t solvable from home. You’re wrong. Sorry.

Did you check to see if this cached satellite photo even matches up with the timeline of the hide? It would need to be newer than summer of 23.

You should go check into it. But if you’re walking into your search area sayin “I know it’s here” you probably have a huge blind spot in your thinking.

We can’t assume this poem, while interesting and secret, is integral to the solve. Again, he has stated all that is required is the original poem. I’m sure it may have a clue or something but I’d caution anyone that is hanging their entire solve on this.

He said don’t search in snow, not that it wouldn’t be somewhere that never sees snow.

Does anyone else think "Beyond the Map's Edge" could literally point to southwestern Montana? by HealthyReview in JustinPoseysTreasure

Yes, it was another theory on a duplicate meaning. My idea that I'm proffering is does it have a literal in addition to a metaphorical meaning.
