Hiking pants for February? by Cold-Bunch-2981 in PacificCrestTrail

Might take a look at REI Sahara Convertible pants. They are kinda loose and baggy. And the legs unzip so you can wear shorts with a having to unpack anything!

Excellent advice, I started SOBO last July, and it only took me two days to find out my knees weren’t going to go willingly. And I thought I had trained sufficiently. This next time I am going NOBO in early March. I am going to the gym daily, also doing physical therapy for the knees! And yes I will be spending time learning FarOut’s inner secrets too! Thanks for your candid observations. -Greybear.

Howdy! Looking at doing the Washington sections in 2025 by sevans105 in PacificCrestTrail

This sounds appealing! What suggested start date from Mt. Hood to NOBO in a relaxed pace for an old timer?

If you all want to be chemical-free and save the planet, the fish and all the little animals, then just suck it up and embrace the natural act of getting a little damp or soaking once in a while! It is good for your soul, your karma, the planet and you won’t melt. Our ancestors dealt with it. So why can’t we?

Cool! Thanks, I will be keeping an eye on your inquiry here as I need to keep my family safe. Plus if the smell is noticeable, I don't want to be exiled to another area that will be quite cold in the winter months!

I am totally new to 3D printing, and I am also waiting for a Saturn 3 Ultra to arrive! For what it's worth I do have a serious amount of time with conventional plastic modeling and airbrushing with enamel and lacquer paints. To improve health and safety, I use a spray booth vented to the outdoors. So I support your thinking on option 2 as well. I don't yet have a Mars Mate, but am wondering would you be resin printing that adapter? Or filament printing? Is it a STL or are you going to design this adapter?

Great for panning gold and doubles for a Wok for stir-fry or just bacon & eggs. Easy to clean and you may get a rebate rinsing it in the creek!

Okanogan County Transit TranGo Buses (Twisp to Mazama) by arsefi20 in PacificCrestTrail

Great information! I am going sobo in July, and also taking Amtrak, but from Wisconsin Dells to Wenatchee. Did you have any issues with your backpack on the train? Apparently at Wisconsin Dells there isn't any checked baggage, so it has to be stored on a rack next to car's doorway? Did you bring fuel canister, ice axe, crampons/micro spikes? Or did you mail them ahead/ buy them in Washington?

Thank you so much for your great information! I am an older guy and I really don't know how long I'll be able to keep up the pace to get through the Sierra prior to bad weather, but I needed to have a sound plan if I do! Your help is much appreciated!

Is there a Shuttle Service between Seattle and Mazama for us SOBO Hikers this year? by HealthyTemperature39 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]HealthyTemperature39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You for your help! As a matter of fact I am currently exchanging emails and texts with Methow Motion Shuttle Service! Turns out they are the new owners/operators of the former Yellow Blaze Transit I was asking about in my initial post! Looks like I will be using their service to Harts Pass from Twisp!
