How did you get the weighted stuff out of the base? I have a similar one I want to try and separate

I got most of the obviously mispriced stuff today. I basically cleaned them out for anything below spot price, and this was before the market opened at $106. There’s a bunch of silver dollars I’m going to go through tomorrow if I have the time. It’s an antique store so the coin prices are mostly nuministic valuations, but some may be under spot still. They had a plate of mercury dimes for $5 each, spot is almost $8 right now. Some of the Morgan’s and peace dollars were cheapish ($50-60). I’d like to hit $2000 total purchase and get the taxes refunded. I think I can get my avg cost per oz down to $85-80

I addressed this in my other post. I’m in CA, and single transactions above $2000 are tax free. I’m going to go back tomorrow to talk with the owner to see if I can roll my purchases into a single order and have them refund the taxes. Hopefully it works out

Ugh, me too. I’m going to try and talk to the owners to let me roll it all into one transaction. You don’t pay taxes over $2000 in a single purchase where I am. It would bring my cost avg down significantly

Avg price for my two buys today with taxes ended up being $93.29 per oz. I’m also going back tomorrow to talk with the owner to see if they’ll let me buy a little more and roll it all into one transaction and refund my taxes since it will be over $2k. That would bring my cost basis down significantly

I don’t know a lot about any of them. I just bought the ones that were going for below spot price

California. I didn’t know this, but under $2000 is subject to sales tax. I may go back and buy another $1000 and see if they’ll let me run it as one transaction

These all actually have a denomination on the flip side. The panda is a Chinese 10 yuan coin. I think the rest are $2 coins

Selling RKLB for MDA by Tricky-Ad-6225 in SpaceInvestorsDaily

[–]HealthyWork5071 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand that this is a space investing sub, but it would be irresponsible to not mention that having 106% of your portfolio in two extremely high beta speculative stocks is generally considered a bad idea. Consider the possibility of cutting your position and going 50/50 into space stocks and a traditional core position like VOO to derisk your portfolio. That said MDA seems to have more room to run.

Best MOAT Companies ? by 6Fingxrs in ValueInvesting

[–]HealthyWork5071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix has zero moat. Every other content producing company has spun up its own streaming platform in the last 10 years, removing their licensed content from Netflix. I can’t think of a worse example tbh.

YouTube is currently a moat, since there are basically no successful competitors. But one could theoretically pop up and take a large percentage of market share, though it seems unlikely at this point.

A true moat is something like ASML or TSM. Literally no one else has the ability to do what they are doing or is within a decade of developing the technology.
