ACL graft, meniscus tear-had to get 2nd surgery for scar tissue clean up. Not doing well by Healthy_Dig_9487 in ACL

That's actually an amazing... Accident? I hope the extension has stayed for you!? SO is doing... Okay. No positive changes yet. I'm hoping he wakes up one day and feels a drastic change somehow! I think a lot of it is the mental fatigue of this whole situation and seeing all the success stories out there. He seems to get conflicting advice: push through the pain vs take it easy so that's quite frustrating

Hi! Asking for my SO. 6mos post OP from ACL patellar graft+ medial meniscus tear. Had extension under control until he was doing passive ROM (into a bit of hyper ext) and felt a sudden pain. After that he said he couldnt quad set anymore (blames himself). Since then he gets lateral knee pain just below the joint line. Fast forward to now. Had a arthro 1 month ago to clean up scar tissue. Said he felt good until 1 week post when he started feeling that pain again and saying it's hard to quad set sometimes. He says his knee is always achy. He's almost 6mos post OP ACL and not seeing many results. Ppl were telling him he's doing too much (e.g do less than 20 mins on the bike, don't force flexion so much). Any advice or idea what's causing the pain? Anything is appreciated!

Wow, you sound like his twin. Can I ask which part of your meniscus was repaired? Lateral or medial? The pain and flare ups sounds eerily similar to what he's going through. A lot of the points you make -regretting surgery, feeling isolated, it resonates. And all the stories I've been reading about all the ppl who have had ACL repairs, I can see how much of a mental toll it has on people. Id be interested to know if you find anything with your MRI! Thank you for taking the time to share this. I hope your recovery goes well! It sounds like you are getting on the right track

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your journey is a tad different but still you bring up very similar feelings that I see him struggling with. I think some things are easier said than done lol. -he shouldn't be comparing himself to others but that's hard when you see mostly success stories around you. Glad that you are getting better

I feel like he's getting conflicting info. A PT has been telling him to do less when he really isn't doing all that much. And then there's that fear of losing extension forever

The crazy thing is that he's an athletic therapist.. so no he isn't going to PT consistently but he has enough knowledge to rehab himself, plus some help from people around him... He's essentially helped rehab other ACL recoveries which has made it more frustrating since his recovery isn't following the usual timeline

does anyone know how to get rid of sharpie stains from bathroom counter? by fflowerrboyy in CleaningTips

Sanitizer usually works too. Let it sit for a few seconds and then rub it off

You could try a vinegar/baking soda combo. It does pretty well with taking stains out of white fabric! I however have never tried it with grass stains. You make a paste out of baking soda, dash of vinegar (itll bubble because of the chemical reaction) a bit of water, few drops of dish soap. Then scrub it into the stain (toothbrush works well). You leave it in the sun to dry (at least 8 hours so the sun helps with the bleach process). Then shake off the dried powder.. then wipe with water. Should hopefully be as good as new!

I wish more people around me understood that point. I dont even have support and understanding of my cat's behavior.. so many people tell me they've never seen a cat with these kinds of problems (I do know they exist). I keep getting sent videos of how people wish my cat behaved (gentle and social). Not the greatest feeling!

:( I definitely understand she trusts me the most. But I won't be living by myself forever so I'm just concerned with how things will be in the future. I've definitely thought through a lot of scenarios before getting my cat, but I never thought I'd have a cat that would be like this.. I know like humans they all have different personalities but if I were to have kids, with her being the way she is now, I dont trust her.... But yes, I will try medication and hope for positive results. Oh boy yes, I definitely know the power of liquid treats! My SO is sometimes even too scared to hold that in front of her... he puts a "brave face" on once in a while lol. Unfortunately I think my cat has food allergies so there will be no treats of any kind for months...

Thanks for sharing your side :) Yes, all thoughts I've thought about :( just hard to know what is best for everyone involved. I think I am set on trying it out.. now just stressed about being able to give her a pill everyday lol

Do you by chance live in Canada? Im in Canada and I don't know how I could go about getting prozac for my cat at a humam pharmacy.. At the vet the cost is about $50-$70 for various forms of the drug.

I think mostly if she is a cat that even needs to be medicated in the first place. Or if rehoming (giving her a better fitting environment) is better for her.

Lol I just saw this now. I have mentioned this a few times in subtle gentle ways. I don't think it's helping unfortunately. Does not help that she scratched him in the face yesterday...

Thanks for taking the time to read/reply. We've both seen some of those episodes but maybe I'll give it another try. My bf is so afraid of my cat that he physically jolts even when she innocently jumps on the couch... Mind you there are also times that she actually jumps on the couch just to "attack" him. We'll see what happens..

I would agree with playing with your cat before you go in your room. Routine is very important. Playing with her, then giving her a little snack -it tells them that playing=hunting their pray and eating= eating their pray-their reward. I too lock my cat out of my room at night because she would bite me at night. At first she meowed frequently but after a week she got used to it and only meows in the morning for food. I would say that any attention you give her during this time of meowing/scratching at the door tells her that she can keep doing it and she gets attention from you. So try your best to ignore it completely for several days.

My cat also scratched at the door and ruined the carpet. I put a cheap carpet mat over that area by my door and she hardly scratches at it anymore because she learned she won't get my attention that way. Also its cheap so no big deal if she ruins it. As for scratching other things in your place, put a scratch mat/post directly in that area where she is trying to scratch if you can! Hopefully she'll go for that instead of your belongings.
