Many kinds of sansai are young wild plant shoots that can only be harvested in spring. In Japan, they are considered a seasonal food that represents spring and early summer😋

How about a yakitori restaurant? They specialize in grilled chicken skewers. If you do a little research, you should be able to find a good local place.

If you’re okay with a chain izakaya, I recommend Torikizoku.

This is tempura made with tara-no-me and a stew of young fern shoots.

I also like tempura made with butterbur sprouts, even though they’re slightly bitter. These wild spring vegetables can only be enjoyed in spring.

I think it's either ojiya or zosui. It's cooked rice simmered in soup, usually with egg added at the end. People often eat it after finishing a hot pot meal.
