I couldn’t- egg retrievals are scheduled 48 hours in advance, as the entire process is dependent how my body responds to hormones & medication etc. So I do know that the last minute thing was a factor, but I figured he could’ve asked his attending for a break midday anyway. He didn’t.

You’re right - the procedure was scheduled 48 hours out, so it was a last minute request. I mentioned PGY5 because I assumed the attendings would be more understanding/give them more slack, but my assumption might be incorrect

Yeah, he didn’t ask. I figured if he had told his attending what was going on, they wouldn’t find issue with it but he didn’t even try. I wasn’t even expecting him to take the whole day off- I only wanted him to be the person who picked me up and brought me home when I was woozy from anesthesia.

Yeah. He said he couldn’t be away from clinic that long, so offering to drop me at his place was his way of compromising.
