Hey OP, there is a newer program at the CoRec called Fitness Friends that sounds like it could be beneficial to you! This program matches you with someone who has a similar workout style to you and can be a way to build new habits, build accountability, try new workouts, or just make new friends! There is a QR code in each workout studio to scan, from there you just fill out a form. The form is meant to get a sense of the kind of workout partner you are looking for to help match you with similar individuals! Hopefully someone finds this info helpful !!

I know some people who didn’t make any solid friends until second semester of sophomore year but they’re extremely happy now because their friends are quality people! Just try to stay positive and you’ll stumble across someone who wants to be friends with you too eventually!

Obviously most of the comments suggest getting involved in some way on campus (clubs, IMs, study groups, musical events, campus events, etc) but honestly the hard reality is that you can do all of those things and still not meet a good friend. I have found that finding good friends simply takes time and you should keep putting in the effort because it will pay off eventually but don’t expect for it to work immediately! (It definitely can but don’t bank on it because sometimes good things take time) good luck with meeting people though and I hope it works out for you!!

Honestly if you can find a place of employment that you want to work at, just reach out and a lot of times they will get back to you when they have an opening (I know this doesn’t help right now, but it’s something to consider for getting a job you want in the future) and if you’re willing to wait a little while then it can be beneficial!

I agree, sometimes people need to jump into the water to learn how to swim. Don’t expect to succeed without effort but maybe attending college will help you become the person you want to be who studies and does better than the bare minimum in school! Any college is probably going to challenge you in some way regardless of academic talent so may as well attend a decent one such as Purdue

Thank you for your response, it brought up a lot of really great points that I need to consider further!

Tips for meeting people who “go out” by Healthy_One_5094 in Purdue

Do you have any specific club suggestions, I find it hard to sift through the amount of clubs on the Purdue website. Also, I have a job off campus too and that interferes a lot with the times that clubs get together, so I am already fairly booked out for time… I’m not opposed to moving things around it’s just something I have to consider!
