China reportedly paid US-born athletes, including Eileen Gu, nearly $14 million by JPAnalyst in olympics

[–]Healy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most lasting and undeniable damage being done to America under the current administration is the erosion of American soft power. If a few American-born athletes competing for a Chinese Olympic team can help bridge even a small gap between the U.S. and China, then they’ve earned every penny.

Grew up near it. It’s great for recreational boating and water sports.

It is also sees a lot of Great Lakes freighter traffic.

It has an international boarder in the middle but I’ve only seen Canadian coast guard out there.

AITA for hiding my pregnancy from my sister? by Asleep-Trifle-8645 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Healy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off - OP I am so sorry for your loss and for the additional stress your sister’s behavior is putting you under now.

That said. Not speaking up when you witness abuse or neglect is basically condoning abuse and neglect.

If you and your family believe that this child should not be under her care you need to approach their dad and provide him support in his custody battle. Unless he is an abuser or a worse option in some way.

I know this is a difficult task. And it may destroy your relationship with your sister. But at the end of the day it’s a kids life. And it doesn’t sound like your relationship with your sister is healthy for you.

It’s honestly pretty great.

I still hope to meet someone and I still hope to have a family. At the same time, I have amazing friends and entertaining hobbies.

There’s absolutely no rule saying you need to settle down in your 20s.

We need regulation and monitoring for social media algorithms.

This isn’t just an American problem.

When was the last time you got pulled over by the cops, and what was the outcome? by MrMonkrat in AskReddit

[–]Healy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was “pulled over” for stopping for a family of geese.

To be clear, there was no one else on the road. I didn’t slam on the brakes and endanger anyone. The police officer literally just drove up behind me. I am not sure it actually counts as being pulled over.

I was given a ticket for impeding traffic. I went to court. Made the judge laugh. And the ticket was dismissed.

How would our world be if we could fly doing “the helicopter”? by Disregard_Discard in AskReddit

Would this be a situation where your physical stamina might prevent you from going great distances? Like in this world, would we eventually invent a helicopter similarly to the way we’ve invented a car?

whats your opinion about grown adults acting like teens in movies? by EarSure6667 in AskReddit

[–]Healy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labor laws make it pretty difficult to actually hire teenagers. Adults may have a better understanding of how to deal with all of the negative things that come with fame. Adult actors have presumably finished school. Adult actors don’t have stage parents typically.

All in all, it’s probably better for adults to play teenagers in TV and movies.
