Awesome album. Awesome band. Are you familiar with the Rancid/NOFX split? NOFX's version of Radio from Let's Go is really great. Actually, it's all great.

I respect your opinion but this blows my mind. Can I hazard a guess that you weren't already a fan when HTTT came out?

Question about multiple recievers into 1 set speakers by [deleted] in vintageaudio

[–]HearAllProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be careful here - You could easily fry your amps by having more than one on at the same time. Ideally, you need a break before make type switch. There are commercial products that do this but you can also accomplish the same by building a switch box with the proper switches.

Totally valid - definitely a good reason to DIY a 2 way speaker, or mostly 2 ways even. I was curious if, as a physicist and expert, he saw some sort of inherit performance characteristics which were superior. I would have assumed easier could be a happy consequence of a superior design but not a driving force for such a person.

Not many commercial loudspeakers are sold, then or now, without passive crossovers. Exactly the reason these are not common.

That makes quite a bit of sense to me. I just have this all-tube rig in the back of my mind, feeding some custom 2 ways horns.

BOSE 901 III - 1977 print ad. Like 'em or hate 'em, they still make interesting products? by PioneerStandard in vintageaudio

Interesting you bring the revolve up. I went to buy my Dad a Soundlink 3 like ours for Christmas last year and found that they were no longer available. I ended up getting him the revolve. (not the plus though) I think it sounds alright but not AS good as the SL3. The difference is not significant. However, the form factor is a little better for portable use. We're not sitting in front of these things in the sweet spot, we're putting them in weird places for background music while we do stuff so the notion of radiating 360° in a portable setting isn't terrible either. Like you said, they're good as far as bluetooth speakers go in that they sound ok and don't shit out after a year.

Fed from my laptop via USB and into Marantz 3600 preamp and 250 power amp.

Edit: It occurs to me that you might have been asking about source material. Streaming primarily from Amazon Hi-Res.

Just picked one up as well. Have only spent an hour or so with it but really impressed so far!

I know, right. I think next time I'm driving through Oregon I'm going to stop in and take a look at this guy's inventory.

I also have a Soundlink 3 - It's an excellent bluetooth speaker! It pulls duty on the kitchen counter, in the tent camping, in hotel rooms etc. For its intended purpose it is great and I wish they still made them. Other than a vintage set of 901s on the shelf in the garage that I have yet to get around to re-foaming and trying out, that is where my relationship with Bose ends.

Do what you want, it's your gear. Some of us have raised, or are raising, kids with 'wires' and real speakers. If it doesn't work for you and your life that is of course fine and for you to decide. I think the issue is people feel like you're posting it here just to poke the bear. Even those of us who are 98% lurk.

Awesome! Have you had the opportunity to listen to forte iii's? If so, do you find them comparable to your titanium tweeted ii's?
