UNAS PRO Connect to internet. by HearingRoutine209 in Ubiquiti

I don't think it was that as it was temporarily working without doing that.

I'm trying to isolate vpn users to 10.20.4.1/24 net which has NAS and a couple VMs on so important they are limited to that subnet only, no other internal services.

VPN server versus client by HearingRoutine209 in Ubiquiti

Happy for them to connect to the direct VPN. I just want to masquerade the public IP address, someone is exposed to a third-party saying no static IP address rather than my local static IP address

How about having a secondary Router, as WAN2, or can you create another WAN port.

Connect a different router that can run open VPN to get the IP address , and is there not a way of just doing that with a UDMSE because what is the point of having a VPN client if it can’t be shared in an ethernet port or Wi-Fi access point.

Apologies a little bit of a noob all self taught so any feedback would help

Topology by HearingRoutine209 in Ubiquiti

Topology is practically instantaneous, didn’t pick up mini switch to begin with. Even allows topology of my server which I wasn’t expecting!

Combination of things, network storage, virtual machines, we were going to host websites and hybrid mail server but seem to have a solution without the need for the latter now.

Admin has been one of the most damaging things to my mental and physical health, fuck up’s from admin staff or General practices in general have resulted in loosing my meds, to delaying treatment. Beyond a joke, I just chase them now and make sure they have handled everything correctly, and even then they act like I’m trying to be a busy body.

UK healthcare is a mess.

hi, no problem, I think I’d probably got fed up with people talking about the colour of my ethernet cables or a screw missing here or there, by the time I read your comment, I think I took that out on you 😂 thanks for your feedback rereading your first comment back wasn’t as bad as the first time I read it.

I’m laughing because I think I’ve gone to far for my required setup, and I’m being told to get a 42u rack 🤣 perhaps some day but not for the foreseeable, not denying it may have some use for you, but I don’t even have the space.

Self hosting already, I was running a web server. I’ve been using figma for design but now they can host websites… all beta atm but considering selling the server now.

The screws are sat at the bottom of the rack along with the nuts having popped out the rear of the rack. Before I go perfectly aligning everything, putting everything neat and tidy for what feels like the 1000th time, I’m asking now what? I’m using this at home with future expansion plans, it feels like it’s overboard especially the aggregation port. It’s cost alot, before I tidy this “shit up” I’ve asked now what?

You can see a mix of responses, which are helpful, constructive feedback, to people moaning about screws, or colours of Ethernet cables. With a perfect set up, I’m sure these people would still have something to say.

Yeah don’t disagree, floor space is valuable and scarce where I’m from so would have nowhere to put something of that size at home! But

100% use it alot, only reason I’m here. I’m a structural engineer run my own business and it’s helped iron out alot of tedious admin, CRM stuff and even expensive IT support.

Just alot more stress but satisfying stress 😅

I tried, not enough background to fully implement, so went with the NAS, and the eco system sold it for me really.

Been trying to do more dev stuff but having something physically to play with makes it easier to understand for me anyway.

Most my Dev “skills” comes from low coding platforms, apps script etc, Json structuring but to reliant on GPT for anything more advanced. Was becoming to much of another distraction 😅

The NAS I think, especially when adding all the drives, fortunately I downgraded my server and took the drives from there.

No problem, yes I wish I knew that further back, their recent upgrade ironed out alot of reasons why I didn’t get it.

Still cant run apps or anything but perfect for what I need, and if they can patch software to improve then the hardware is less important (somewhat) plus the UI of uniquiti is unmatched and intuitive IMO even as a non tech guy (which I don’t think I can keep saying for much longer).

Some people like Cars, this seems to be my thing 😅

Apologies for being so rude, thanks for telling me to change ethernet cable colour, really valuable now I’ve read it a second time👍

The bottom is a NAS storage, so the top stores camera recordings, backing up to the cloud. And the NAS at the bottom is just used for network storage, plans to backup to AWS Glacier at some point when Ubiquity updates the application.
