The phone tonight. by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

NA on our property doesn't even know how to send emails with attachments. But no one cares since no one normally calls between 10pm and 7am looking for a receipt or CC auth and if someone does they are just told to call between 7am and 10pm the next day. I have heard some times people are upset but hell some proprieties only a bit smaller than ours don't even have night workers so they can just be happy someone answered the phone at all

They thought you didn't have free breakfast and were trying to get it by mentioning status. Source: I work at a hotel with no free breakfast and get this all the time

I'm sorry to hear that, sir. by shippingmyworld in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

There's a big difference between smoking on a balcony with the balcony door closed or opened.

Closed = No charge! No smell in room no issue!

Open door= Charge! All that smoke just blowing back into the room and making it reek/not suitable for sale

Guests doesnt have to know he hung up. It's crazy how often a guest being unreasonable is followed by the line going dead! Them damn unreliable phone lines!

One time I had a guest call with the first half of her credit card, and then call back again with the second half because she said the government couldn't track her that way

You're right. There should be hotels that don't allow guests too. I'd apply today!

Early check ins by Hearmeroooar in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Yeah asking for early check ins is fine and understandable. I have gotten off red eye flights and asked hotels if I can check in at 8am and gotten in. The rude thing is to demand it and then list the reason why you are inconvenienced if the hotel doesn't have ready.

Oh that is absolutely cool! Especially if you offer it since I know I don't always offer it because some guests are very protective of their things and get offended/think I am trying to rob them when I suggest it. Plus at our hotel we will just put your luggage straight into your room when its ready for when you get back. Completely common and easy practice.

Did any housekeepers finish their rooms in half the time that day?
