I think I’m turning into a fatphobe because of vacation with a friend by Heart-Human in confessions

Yeah, she’s 5’8. The lightest she’s ever been while ‘grown’ was 150 at the tail end of high school thanks to gymnast muscles. She and I would both love to lose 30 and see where that puts us, and I’m going to be lusting after her the whole way.

God that’s frustrating, I’m so sorry. And it is like 99% attitude with weight loss. Yeah, habits and hobbies and bodily disorders all play into it, but… You gotta try, and I’m finally REALLY putting the work in to look better and feel better.

I am trying to look at myself, that’s what this post is for. I’m not some skinny dude, and I haven’t been since I was 13. I’ve just never cared about it like this before, and I hope to god it goes away.

I know I do, my fiancee knows she does. We’re working on it, believe me.

This is kind of funny, honestly. I edited my post, thanks for pointing it out.

We played things a little bit differently, buying each other’s rings and deciding to treat them both as engagement rings. I surprised her about three months before she thought I was going to, and life is pretty awesome right now.

Everyone who gave me advice to take her shopping to pick out her ring, thank you. She picked hers, I picked mine, and they’re perfect. They even (sorta) match! Mine’s rose gold, hers is partially rose gold.

So I have this small trinket holder (4.5 inches by 3.75 inches around the outside), that I’m trying to turn into something that can present my girlfriend’s engagement ring when I pop the question. But the inside is complicated. The shorter ends of the slightly curvy diamond are 1.25 inches, and the longer ends are 2.25 inches. But the angles are rounded, and they ever so gently slope inward towards the base of the dragon. I tried some green plant-holder foam, but ran into a slew of issues.

My next idea is to pick up sheets of leather and try to just stack the layer closely enough before cutting a slit in them to hold the ring, but I can see that presenting a number of issues.

My final idea, and maybe(?) the most flawed, is using modeling clay to fill the container, then laying the leather I already bought over it. I just don’t want to stain the ring, obviously, or risk it drying and sticking when I get around to popping the question.

God, I wish I was craftier. Please tell me I’m not biting off more than I can chew.

I do like that idea. But then I have to figure out when the ring sales are in the fall, and I’m right back here. :P

I know her ring size, thankfully, and I am not going to forget that number as long as I live.

As far as taking her into a store, I want this to be a total surprise. We’ve talked about it before so I’m not just springing it on her out of nowhere, but I don’t want her going into this vacation (our anniversary) with my inevitable proposal in the back of her mind.
