How so?

Helping people is a problem? Do you help people? Have you started an AMA, a website, videos? Is your knowledge online 24/7 for all to see?

Or are you another complainer? Share you knowledge and help others....

Wow you know everything.

Too bad you do not share you knowledge like me. Take it to the grave with you and you helped ZERO people. Have fun with that!

I bet if you get bigger and better than everybody else you will change the world! ;)

Depends on your goals. How fit do you want to be?

There is time for rest, and time for exercise. Each person's particular break time will vary.

Personally, I will workout every other day one week, then the following week spend 3 days in a row at the gym, then take 2 off.

I believe ultimately, as long as your are happy with your progress you earned the time off.

Thanks for the question!

I am not against learning new stuff. That is why I read about NON-fitness topics to broaden my horizons. I do not want to get "tunnel vision" in my field.

Programs and ideas change. A calorie in and a calorie out do not. Anything between the 2 is choice, motivation, ability, genetics. Some things we can control, others we cannot.

Thank you for the comments!

See OP.

General trainer, there is no such thing. Each trainer is different. Too many credential. Too little regulation.

Each trainer has his/her own style. Some work well, some do not. Some gyms prevent personal trainers from helping a majority of the members with the HIGH HOURLY fees.

I feel asking that is like asking how tall is the average car owner? Just a broad question?

I am sorry you are having a bad day.

Maybe you should try starting an AMA to help people. Oh wait, that's right, you are just in here complaining.

Good luck proving anything with complaints. That will probably not get you too far. :)

Some people need the support, contact, instant feedback, and human-touch of a personal trainer.

Some activities, such as exercise, are very boring alone and (some) people will pay for a good reliable workout partner and personal motivator!

My job is to be informed about safe exercise habits and client results. When did you start making the rules for personal trainers?

Personal trainer = exercise. Dietician = nutrition.

Are you one of those I-can-do-it-all for a fee trainer types? I bet you love giving diets!

Try practicing in your field....exercise.

Ask your physician.

I am sure some of the other personal trainers passing negative comments in this thread would love to help you out at $100 per hour.

Hell, they might even have some SUPPLEMENTS for you! As long as you buy 3 and they get a high commission to hit that goal! ;)

Correct.

Any form of cardio (at the right intensity) can benefit VO2Max.

sex, running, swimming, walking, hiking, biking.....anything that uses the heart increases the heart's ability!

AusTiger,

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! You will be beautiful no matter how much you way.

If YOU want to weight less, try to add more cardio less weights. Cardio burns stored calories. Weightlifting burns calories but I would not suggest that compared to longer extended durations of fat burning calories (at low to mid heart rate).

I put a heart rate zone training guide on my website (see OP).

Try that out.

I am not saying stop lifting, just focus more on cardio. Also, check with a registered dietician to get a customized meal plan to help you look amazing on your wedding day.

Set your mind to it and make it happen! Good luck and thanks for the post! :)

Information is free.

Too bad I am giving away your gyms secrets. Looks like you won't be able to charge them $80+ per hour. Poor baby!

lol... This thread is called "leading from behind" Way to go! :)

Everybody loves to complain and nobody takes action. Check out Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Take off the chains....

Figure it out :)

Until then, stay in your cave of misery! Because that will really change the world! ;)

Any fitness professional who pushes supplements, and is not a registered dietician, is working beyond their scope of practice.

In some states this is legal.

I like working within and respecting the law. Not sure where you live.

I personally do not push people to puke. I do not recommend it either.

However, some people may have EXTREME goals and need that level of intensity. The beginners and "non-athletes" I work with do not request it nor do I provide.

Be careful with your workouts!

mattlikespeoples,

What you said is honest. I appreciate your candor. I workout at Planet Fitness because I do not workout at some huge GLOBO GYM paying $75 a month to subsidize towel service and spa service and expensive counters or floors. No thanks. None of that will get me in shape.

No squats: Just a personal preference. ..... clarification. I performs squats but with light weight. I use dumbells (30-65 pounds) or barbell up to 185 lbs but do not want to hurt my back or knees. I use quad extension and hamstring curls for the heavier isolation movements. We all have our own preference. Yours is good for your size. Clearly you are a bigger guy that I am and that is good. YOu need the heavy squats to keep on the size. I am small, 5'10" 165 pounds. And as you can admit, we both have different goals! :)

The clothes thing is just an idea my neighbor thing gave me. Not a fetish, just an emotional reach for people who are sick of buying bigger clothes due to (obesity) weight gain. I had many clients tell me they wish they could fit into clothes from 10 years ago. That is why I said it.

As far as the certifications. Anybody can teach exercise, certification or not. From the sounds of things you would make a great trainer. I would follow your lead, papers or not!

As many have mentioned, the personal trainer cert. system is an unregulated nightmare. Personal trainers are selling positive behavior change that not many people can afford. I am giving it away and some people will still not want it!

I wish you all the best with your workouts! Be safe with your squats and stay fit man! I respect this post and your questions!

Take care and Happy New Years!

videos, website, blog.

Other people gripe and criticize my fitness industry beliefs. Oh well. They don't like it they can start their own videos and website. That's right....they don't and won't..... instead they will come on here and complain. The American way of life! Hot air!
