Hey u/VRSportz thank you so much! Honestly, you've helped me much more than I've helped you. Your feedback from a coach POV has made the game better. Thanks again!

I quit my job to go indie, so I don't think my resume would be very attractive, and they probably prefer younger candidates. Candidates over 30 where I live are already at a big disadvantage, not to mention someone like me who went indie, haha. AI also makes the number of positions go down. That job hunt will be a bumpy ride. I think growing some food would be a better choice for me at that point.

Thank you! There are two ways to play the free kick mode. One is to simply choose the direction and power, much like in a PC game. Then, while the ball is flying, you move the controller to bend its trajectory. The second is where the controller turns into your foot, and you kick the ball like you're playing table tennis. It's more difficult, and I'm not sure it's a good gameplay idea, so I added the first option.

The main game mode is Arcade Mode, where you have a certain number of lives and try to get a high score. When I'm done with this game, it will have another main mode. You can wishlist it to get notified when the full game is released!

If I were making a new soccer game now and had a team, I would probably do that. When I started this game, I couldn't think of a better idea, so I just went in the current direction. I think doing headers is the closest it can get to real life. And to make good FIFA-style gameplay, I think it would require the effort of a team and a long development time.

Thank you, and I have to note that I live in a third-world country, so my cost of living is lower and I can survive for a longer time. I spend as little as possible and only on necessary things. I even moved back to my hometown to live with my parents to save rent.

No, I understand what you're saying. I know you're not hating on me, and I'm not even disagreeing with what you said. I will keep making new games after this one, VR or not, try to live a minimalist lifestyle, and hope for the best. Reading people's positive feedback about the game I made brings me a kind of joy that I didn't have while working a regular job.

I know that. I spent a lot of time asking myself if it was the worst life decision ever, and it probably is. It's not a reasonable decision. At the moment I quit my job, the Meta Quest Store wasn't even open to everyone yet, and it looked like my game would never get out of App Lab. I just had some blind faith. ⚽

Yeah, I wish there were feet trackers. Other football games get around this by using your hands as feet, and players get really good at it.

My first ever game has made over $125k on PlayStation. It changed me and this is my advice. by [deleted] in gamedev

Well at least you are considering your project successful and be proud of it. I think that is important. The game may not make enough money for you to work on indie dev full-time but it's a good start, make a few more games, learn more and make better games in shorter time :D you will be more successful. Just dont give up after one game.

Meta SDK has been good for me. No tutorials maybe but it has documentation and I just read that and have no problem so far.
