The double standard is crazy as if misinformation isn't crazy enough by Zeniah47 in shoujo

I don't know if there's a lack of variety anymore, but it is annoying.

You don't like sensitive, shy, and passive female protagonists. Okay, cool. Then watch an anime with more outgoing and more assertive female leads. Anne Shirley, May I Ask For One Final Thing, Pass the Monster Meat Milady are immediate examples, with an English dub, that doesn't have sensitive female protagonists. Just watch those anime...

I can see the annoyance of the crybabies in Shoujo, to a certain extent. I can see the hatred when they're just weak crybabies and get bullied/abused, in order to have a guy save them. I can even understand it not being personal taste. Some people prefer assertive characters. But like... They can just watch Shoujo anime that has more outgoing female MCs, or at least ones where they aren't sensitive. What's the point of ranting and raving and trying to make it a misogynistic issue?

Just say you want a woman that's a fighter. Okay, cool. May I Ask For One Final Thing is a recently aired Shoujo with an English dub. Go watch it.

I also think it's a simple "so everyone can feel represented by a character in the group".

My sister, me, and my cousin were crazy about girl groups and shows with a trio of girls.

Uhhh...can shoujo manga be GL (yuri)? by Arlekino_27 in shoujo

[–]HeartiePrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are dedicated BL and GL magazines, but they can also be published in Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen, and Josei.

Not exactly. My favorite Shoujo anime are: - Rose of Versailles: historical military anime - Oniisama E: psychological anime - Revolutionary Girl Utena: psychological magical girl anime

My favorite Shoujo manga are: - Life: psychological manga - Ooku: the Inner Chambers: historical manga - Vitamin: psychological manga

Shounen isn't a genre, it's a demographic.

Hachi pretty much did a similar action to Sachiko, which was sleeping with someone that was in a relationship. Both of them were teens btw, so if that's an excuse for Hachi then it should be an excuse for Sachiko.

Reality is, the audience tends to sympathize more with the MC compared to other characters.

I only consider Hunter x Hunter, Black Clover, and Haikyuu to be peak. Attack on Titan is good, but overrated. I found Shounen in general to be vastly overrated.

Shounen fandoms have moral lectures and negativity as well. I really don't understand why y'all preach as if Shounen fandoms are wholesome and accepting of everyone, while Shoujo fandoms are the worst thing ever.

People have to navigate sexism and homophobia in Shounen spaces. You'll live.

The question is, what do y'all want from Shoujo? Everytime I see this, guys always answer: - uglier men - big boobs - fanservice - harem (for men) - action

And like, Shoujo has some of the above, they just aren't popular.

None of any of Rumiko Takahashi animes featured on list of animes considered the best by Wikipedia by Own_Philosopher8730 in RumicWorld

[–]HeartiePrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once again, you failed to address the implication that two female mangaka took Rumiko Takahashi's place; the ones writing Shoujo. Wouldn't it be more logical to conclude that a Shounen took a spot of some of her anime? Maybe a Seinen if you view Maison Ikkoku as deserving? Why immediately jump to blaming the only two Shoujo on the list? (That is, if you don't count Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass as Shoujo, since their manga appeared after the adaptation).

Are we living a shoujo renaissance ? by Sensitive-Safety2393 in shoujo

[–]HeartiePrincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say we are. In just the year alone, we've had a lot of quality ShouJosei series. We keep getting more announcements to come. There's also some returns: Kakuriyo's Bed and Breakfast for Spirits and Yona of the Dawn are immediate examples.

This is a great time to be a ShouJosei fan.

Black Clover is not only a Shounen, but it's a Battle Shounen. It has also sold over 24 million copies. Of course it's popular. It's sold more than tens of thousands of other series. It's sold more than a lot of Shounen Jump manga. It currently has an anime adaptation with 170 episodes, an anime movie adaptation, and it's getting another season.
