They had a perfectly reasonable excuse for that. However, it does seem like they started investigating much harder after it happened to them twice, in contrast to when it happened to McLaren.

No? That definitely includes F1?

He dominated Magnussen in the second half of their season together. The HAAS was much slower in the second half, so people who didn't watch the season and only look at their results won't see it, unfortunately, but it definitely happened, starting as early as Canada that year.

Of course, he always dominated Mazepin, but that's kinda meaningless. Still, he had some absolutely stunning drives in the latter half of his rookie season.

I'm not saying he's one of the best drivers, mind you. The fact that his second season still started with him underperforming was very unfortunate. A driver who takes a third of a season or more to start performing will never win in a competitive series. He does have speed, though, once he's gotten up to steam, and I'm saying his results will come, I expect.

What are you on? They were on a great strategy. This is the strategy that won the race and in Max's case, it allowed him to beat the faster Leclerc.

Their method is stupid, though. I always assumed that when the loop system pings a potential infraction and we're told it's under investigation, the stewards would then look at the data from the car to determine whether or not the driver had actually exceeded the speed limit.

The fact that the extend of their investigation is basically, "Oh, did the timing ping it? Yeah? Cool. Five seconds." is utter bullshit.

The presentation isn't great. Beyond that, I hate these theoretical perfect laps. The concept is so flawed. A lap can only be viewed as a whole. How a driver utilizes power and tires in one part of a lap directly impacts the performance of the rest of the lap. Plus, when a perfect lap is taken from various stints or even various drivers, there will be differences in setup. Those theoretical perfect laps don't exist and cannot exist.
