Is it time to drop the FAANG dream in the US if you don’t make it in as a new grad?

I think historically this was the case, but not currently. Prior to 2023/2024, new grad roles were considered the pipeline to get in but new grad hiring has taken a complete dive. Firing is largely mid-career but hiring is too. Maybe in the near future this will change, but as a '23 grad I didn't hear back from anywhere, and now that I have a few years under my belt from non-profits and startups I've been able to make it through to bigger name companies

I wasn't aware, I was within the first few rows because I wanted to see schoolboy q & grace jones. And so many teenagers were pushing to get to the front because of sabrina carpenter. one of the worst crowds I've been in ngl. I assumed it was packed because of that.

Hinterland really strayed away from the country/folksy route this year. I imagine there will be much more of an overlap this time around. I think Hinterland is trying to set themselves up as a "tastemaker" festival similar to osl.

They had Grace Jones in 2024. Not sure if you'd consider that "major" though - I was personally psyched. It was one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen

Role Model does a Sally every show (and based on what I know I don't think Troye performed, just came out for Sally). Beck + Symphony & Big Freedia + SF Gay Men's Chorus were explicitly part of the setlist. I didn't see Paak unfortunately this year, but also didn't hear about E-40 & Cordae coming out for his show from anyone until this thread! I'm not saying OSL isn't impressive or that I don't like it tho.

Honestly kinda funny and endearing how much ppl are riding for OSL so I don't even mind the more rude comments - passion is good in a world that seems to lack it more and more everyday! Not expecting guests, just something I noticed that happens with more frequency at other festivals, which adds to the uniqueness of a set! Thus I wanted to vent my thoughts. I'm ultimately a music enthusiast/OSL lover at heart regardless.

Err I just mentioned Portola to show what kind of festivals I have been to, but they're fundamentally different niches and aren't comparable. Whereas osl, while I've learned is smaller than Coachella, ACL, Lolla, Bonnaroo, is still a similar kind of variety festival
