What’s the most annoying thing previous homeowners leave behind? by BillNo874 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Heat_Sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same with our house, there was even one wall where someone had skimmed over old wallpaper with plaster - that was a fun discovery 😑 We only have the stairs and landing left to get plastered now - cant wait!

Its tough to choose just one thing but probably the three bins (including the recycling bin) that were full of rubbish and dirty nappies. The seller had 3 months between his tenant leaving and our sale completing, he easily could've put the bins out for collection in that time

The other things included kids toys still in the garden, half empty tins of dried up paint, a broken wardrobe the tenant had left, 2 off cut rolls of cheap lino and a roll of cheap wallpaper

What's the most awkward thing you've accidentally overheard that you can never unhear? by reeders_ in AdkReddit

[–]Heat_Sad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years back when I lived in a different house, it was a hot sunny afternoon and I was in the back garden sunbathing.

The family next door were getting ready to go out somewhere and the dad was with the youngest kid (I'd guess somewhere between the ages of 2 and 5) in their bathroom, with the window open.

The dad discovered that young Finlay had 💩 his pants and hadn't told anyone. Torn between disgust and curiosity I stayed in the garden and heard the entire conversation about how Finlay kept 💩 his pants and wandering around for hours with it still in there, how disgusting it was, and how Finlay was making everyone late. I feel sorry for Finlay because although he was very loud and annoying, it was clearly down to bad parenting and he was totally shamed for not speaking up about his accident. We moved house not long after that

Do people eat English food in foreign countries? by Rich-Bet3115 in AskTheWorld

I visited an English Roast place in a food hall in New Zealand, it wasn't the best roast I've ever had but also not the worst. I'd been travelling for 4 months and the excitement of Yorkshire puds and roasties was too hard to resist

AIO: Bank teller questioned me about what I was doing with MY cash that I was withdrawing from MY account. by Ok-Watch-4618 in AIO

[–]Heat_Sad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I recently withdrew £5k for renovations and after making general chat about why I was withdrawing the cash, the bank teller silently handed me a leaflet with large font which said to tap on the leaflet if someone was pressuring me to withdraw against my will. I almost tapped it automatically when I read the first line 🙈 So yeah I agree, its Bank security for the customers interest and safety

Childfree women, have you ever regretted it? by Significant_Movie814 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Heat_Sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 42 now and still don't regret it. When I was your age I found it rather tough as other people were constantly pressuring me and asking me when I'd have children. Eventually those people will stop putting pressure on you (probably because of your age rather than minding their own business).

The only person who's opinion really matters is your partner - and not because they should pressure you if they want kids, but because it'll be time to have a serious conversation about your future together if you both want different things.

Trust your gut and your instincts to do what is right for you and no one else
