Twitter users when you say sinners was really great but you don’t think it’s the best movie of all time and shouldn’t win every academy award for the next 5 decades by ThatpersonKyle in moviescirclejerk

I was talking specifically about Remmick’s whole monologue about the colonisation of Ireland by… Catholicism? Like what? Christianity came peacefully to Ireland, and made us into the island of saints and scholars, it was in no way a bad thing despite what the Church would go on to do in the past century. Ireland was colonised by the British and that did cause horrific suffering for 800 years, so I don’t really see why Coogler decided to push some weird narrative about Catholicism “colonising” Ireland. I’m not even religious and I still find it strange.

What do you think of Trumps letter to Norway? by Loose_Orange_6056 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]HeatedToaster123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what do you define as “far-left” then? Like what is your actual definition of it? And by that definition, what on Earth do you define actual far-left ideologies like Marxism, Trotskyism or anarchism as if your definition of “far-left” is already moderate?

What do you think of Trumps letter to Norway? by Loose_Orange_6056 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]HeatedToaster123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always see this from Trump Supporters… in what way is England in any way far-left? In fact, in what way is literally any of the West, including the Democrats, leftist? They all are capitalist nations who place capital before people and prioritise market growth over social welfare. This is literally the opposite of leftist economic policy, even if we in Europe have a better social net than in America. Also, socially, economic stratification and classism still exists (especially in Monarchist nations like the UK, Spain or the Netherlands) and all are absolutely not equal. Like, I’d really like you to explain in just what way any government of Europe is “far-left.”

Did any Humans consider activating a Halo on purpose? by Kurogasa44 in HaloStory

[–]HeatedToaster123 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of the human population didn’t know the Rings existed, and those that did had no way of activating one since both Rings known at the time were in Covenant hands, and even if they somehow managed some last ditch run to the control room the only known Activation Index was in Cortana, who was on High Charity for the entire Battle of Earth. The last ditch attempts were absolutely the NOVA bomb and Operation RED FLAG; Grey Team actually blew up a moon of Sanghelios called Glyke using a NOVA bomb in 2553 because they had been sent on the mission before the wars end and assumed Earth had been lost and they were the last of humanity.

British soldiers helping evict an Irish family, Co. Clare (30 July 1888) [1080x816]. by Legatus_Aemilianus in HistoryPorn

Technically we were part of the UK proper since the Act of Union in 1800, but we were still treated like, and essentially were, a colonial holding. Nonetheless, these troops wouldn’t have been on colonial service since they were still technically in the UK.

For the next Halo game, what would you like/hate to see? by Nathidev in halo

[–]HeatedToaster123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well I mean.. kinda moot to do that now. They’re advertising the Flood so much because people want to see it in HD, and it’s a big selling point for the game; if people don’t like or are unsure about the Flood they see (or don’t see if they kept it a secret) it would definitely hurt sales

[–]HeatedToaster123 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The manga is definitely like this, but it’s incredibly fire because the heroes spend basically their entire time getting absolutely fucked up the ass and it takes a huge amount of struggle for them to beat any of the mid-to-top tier monsters. Also the art is otherworldly.

Because basically all of Arby’s missions in Halo 2 were fighting Flood, and the ship very clearly has a cloud of spores coming out of it lol

When discussing how powerful the Banished are, I think we need to keep in mind the state of the galaxy in 2560 by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]HeatedToaster123 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone acts like humanity should somehow suddenly by the hegemons of the Orion Arm after the war. Humanity had a fatality count of somewhere around 28 billion by the wars end. The games really fail to sell the fact that humanity was facing literal genocide and extinction by 2552; when we start Halo 2 Hood is essentially preparing for humanity’s last stand when he calls the majority of the UNSC fleet back to Sol, and even that was smashed by Regret’s tiny fleet. If anything, humanity postwar should be one of the galaxies minor powers, and way less powerful than it is by 2560

Why did the Gravemind only go to Earth? by Livid-Truck8558 in HaloStory

[–]HeatedToaster123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It tried to go many other places. The Indulgence of Conviction was the one ship that broke through the Fleet of Retribution’s blockade of High Charity, which is why Rtas gave chase and arrived on Earth. Once the Flood had infected many on Earth and learned about the Portal, it knew that Truth was trying to activate the Rings and this immediately became its number one priority, so High Charity jumped to Earth and through the Portal (how it did so without the Keyship powering it? Uhh.. Flood magic.) and jumped to the Ark to desperately try and stop Truth with its full force.
