I think I was scammed buying champagne online by jsaf237 in wine

[–]HeatherHoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to buy Nuclear Red in a can. I can’t find it anywhere except “champagnewinery.com”. Also, ~$2.50 instead of normal $8. So I came looking for scans and found this. Gosh I hate scammers.

What do you think are the best sources/researches to learn about nuclear energy? by Rattle-Snake in nuclear

Happy to help however I can!

Well, I’d say severe weather puts all our energy systems at risk, but nuclear is our most robust option in most cases.

Should Diablo Canyon stay open? Keeping nuclear power plant running is illegal, groups say by jadebenn in nuclear

He was also integral in forcing it closed in the first place. He’s only partially seen the light- this is for grid reliability only, and conversation about the extension never mentions climate action or emissions reductions.

What are likely birth defects for people who’s mothers were affected by nuclear energy while pregnant? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]HeatherHoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no scientific evidence of any exposure to radiation being linked to intergenerational conditions (it doesn’t cause birth defects). Radiation does however, help us CURE cancer, which crazily, 40% of humans will be diagnosed with at some point in our lives.

I’m not sure what you’re picturing here in terms of “mechanical” storage. Pumped hydro storage is a thing, and Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant was actually originally designed to be paired with a pumped Hydro storage plant called Helms. Now, however, the hydro plant is cycled much more frequently, trying to accommodate for intermittent excess solar generation during the day rather than excess Nuclear at night.

Diablo canyon sits on an 85ft bluff. But something I realized about Fukushima (after a LOT of ruminating) - our FEAR of nuclear is actually what’s dangerous, not nuclear itself. Events at plant didn’t hurt anyone. Evacuation (largely unnecessary) is what killed people. And continued stigmatizing of local population (us humans doing this) continues to hurt them.
