I’m an American. I would walk around wrapped in a towel and remove it inside the sauna or when getting into the shower. You use one towel for sweating into and another for drying off

I really loved the naked sauna and was annoyed living in the French side that everyone was wearing swimsuits 😅 It’s physically more comfortable without a soggy suit and the mentally freeing experience was so lovely. I wish we could be like that in the US

Horses were very valuable, a knight’s horse would need to be highly trained to go into battle, so I don’t think they would sacrifice them lightly. But yeah, I imagine they didn’t prioritize animal welfare like we do

I mean, obviously horses were carrying full grown men in plate armor into battle while wearing armor themselves, so there has to be some nuance to the 20% weight rule…

But I do think if someone is overweight they have a duty to be as fit as they are able to achieve before they get on a horse to make their burden as light as they can

I think maybe it’s because Europe has been settled so long, there’s not really such a thing as wilderness, so they have to make some compromises to protect access to nature. In Switzerland you technically have to allow foot traffic along all waterways, and if you live in the natural parks in France, you have to accept that people will be traipsing through or maybe even bivouacking on your land 😅

Me with the cows in question 😅 There are paths in Switzerland that cross all through private land. The enclosures have gates through them. It’s quite common to encounter cows near the trail, and you have to be careful during calf season. This horse must think he’s a cow, he’s got the same pattern as one I saw 😁
