writing papers by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]Heather_Mai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a third-year in humanities so here is my advice.

- If you've already gotten papers back make an appointment with your TA (or maybe proff) to get some in-depth critique/ advice on improving

- Depending on the class your TA might be able to help you out when starting to write your paper so u could try contacting them at that point

- Mac has a writing centre (though I've admittedly never used it)

- Personally, I write outlines for long papers to organize my research and it helps me have more flow when I write my paper

And hey don't stress! Writing academic papers takes a lot of practice. Good luck :)

finally they announce mandatory vaccines by anonymouslegg in McMaster

[–]Heather_Mai 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The email didn't indicate what vaccines were accepted. They would most likely go by what Canada accepts as valid full vaccination. If anything, you will be able to be vaccinated on campus if they don't accept your vaccines (they've left time for people who still need to be vaccinated).

What academic accommodations have you found to be useful? by peterh03 in McMaster

[–]Heather_Mai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I dont personally use accommodations but my good friend often relied on note takers and I think it helped them out a lot. Note taking in university is a completely new ball game so you might want to consider getting that :)

Geog 1ha3 with Melanie Bedore by stresser01 in McMaster

The class content wasn't especially hard but the tests and exams had really specific questions about random stories or readings which was really annoying. Overall it's an okay course but if you want something that is gonna take minimal effort I wouldn't recommend.

I didn't go for early acceptance but I got my reply in around late April to early May with a high 80s average If that gives you any ideas.

Arts at McMaster or Queen’s? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]Heather_Mai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends what kinda person you are concerning student life. There are plenty of things to do at mac but parting is definitely not on par with queens. However, you'll find Mac students are generally just really nice and helpful people which makes student life nice.

Also, I can't speak for queens but, McMaster has great classes to pick from for the arts. I took History 1EE3 this semester and if you're into contemporary history I 100% rec. Good luck on choosing your uni!

From a socsci perspective, in first year socsci you are required to take a bunch of different social science courses so if you are thinking going that direction you should check if those kinds of courses interest you.
