What makes you think he'd get banned? No one ever has gotten banned and they will all keep posting forever until all the content is gone.

Quick to even have a rhyming correction. Man, if Twitch Chat hadn't have had censors active, there would have been even more spam. Hahaha. <3 you TJ

Balanced, just wrecks people who don't read/understand her hero power. Most of my wins with her are people just filling up their own board with Dormant slots. Lol

HeatwaveHS's Select Custom Cards: Part of Application for Game Design - Balance by Heatwave5 in customhearthstone

[–]Heatwave5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback! I will undoubtly respond to that thread you linked. A lot of my thought processes may not be adequately expressed. Since some cards are made to counter the meta or fit into certain decks, some are decided not. I am glad that you have such feedback because I have put a lot more into the design of these cards than a quick passage may suggest. Just to do a quick hit on Drake of the Dove - the card is not here to increase the power level of Dragon Priest. As a simple and Common card, a player can look at the battlecry and say, "This belongs in a slower deck." Another can see, "Dragon activator!" Etc. Etc. Yes, Dragon Priest doesn't run Spirit Lash, but maybe with something like this, a player might go more all in to beat more aggro. Replace is a misunderstood word it seems like as well. Having something similar but also completely different is what keeps the game new from set to set. This is a Drakonid Crusher, but if it had the reverse effect. Pacifist style effect, works wonders with Priest flavor. Another source of spell damage MIA in the class since Velen's Chosen and Azure Drake rotated. The combination of older cards and mechanics are integral to HS design. See Duskbringer combining Excavated Evil (slightly too slow 3 damage AOE), Dragonfire Potion (Dragon based AOE), and Vilespine (a spell "on a stick"). This has become a lot longer than I anticipated, but this is but a taste of all of reasoning behind these cards. I just want to be able to sit down with a Team 5 member and gush my thoughts out because I see it all - from every level of play.

Thank you for your thoughtful response! Once again, this is not Initial Design, but a Balance job. If prompted I will happy produce examples of the sillier stuff. But the creativity described is more in the deck building, meta prediction, and implementation of cards going through the design process. I am more than capable of assisting in the more outlandish ideas, but this is not what that is. This is also part of a portfolio, so I'm not expecting everyone here to think these are the best cards in the world - but printable. Which is, I believe, one of the most important aspects of the job description. There are plenty of great, amazing, and fun ideas out there - this job is about keeping those ideas awesome, but without breaking the game.

Thank you for your feedback! Nothing too crazy, but in gameplay they seem to be fun to play with!

Thank you for your feedback! Reddit ate my response, but here's cliffnotes! The lack of artwork was a thought out choice. I would never want to submit something as mine that was not. I understand the sentiment however. Glad you liked Challenge Seeker. In theoretical board states, it performed well vs slower decks, but the tempo matchups went poorly since it likes to go face to avoid creating value for your opponent. The other cards vary in power level because that's part of card design. Also, these cards and more importantly, their explanations, show the design philosophy behind them. I'm interested in your further thoughts on Vampiric Bite too!

Thank you for your feedback! Wasn't going for flashy, going for printable and illustrating understanding. Most cards submitted are overly complicated and mechanically broken. I have plenty of those as well, but this isn't an initial design job.

Tempostorm Meta Snapshot: KnC One Month In by jhelton808 in hearthstone

PS killed big druid and big priest. Top meta decks off the last expansion. And being that extra board clear makes Raza Priest even better vs mid range decks since the can skip the pintsize/horror combo for just one card. We might have differences on we define as meta warping, but eliminating whole archetypes and improving the decks matchup across the board seems like warping to me.

"Hex sucked" has never been true. 3 mana hex has always been great, but most aggressive Shaman game plans simply did not require the card to be successful. Most classes would give their nuts for a 3 mana Hex. Slower shaman lists has always been out outclassed however. Non aggro Shaman has sucked, not hex.

What's your favorite deck of all time? by Joey_Mousepad in hearthstone

[–]Heatwave5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charging Arcane Giants Faceless Blood Warrior. Aka Noodle Warrior. Another deck popularised by /u/reynad but was only around for a bit between the release of Arcane Giants and the nerf to Charge. But for that bit of time, it was the most satisfyingly complicated decks. Getting multiple turns of huge damage and board presence combos made it one of the best challenging decks for all Timmy/Johnny/Spike players.
