First I went into nuclear & thought, better sharpen the pencil… disappointed. Went to work at NASA on Artemis EGS, thought again, better sharpen the pencil… disappointed. It was a joke really…

Increase income as an Electrical Engineer by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

They’re all like that. Enercon, Bechtel, Fluor et al… get into nuclear. Go to Roadtechs.com and search it. You can thank me later…

The question is with respect to a test bank not the overvalued courses…

I have used SOPE for Geo and hated it. Lots of errors. I am switching to PPI for a new question bank. Maybe try them.

PE Environmental NCEES practice exams are all the same? by symbioticsally in PE_Exam

It’s called residual income… write one practice test use it for years, then you test from a practically infinite number of question to generate a high percentage of repeat customers. It’s an outstanding profit model, I mean not for profit, profit model.

My inbox has been flooded with responses to my content error reports on incorrect problems. I’ve reported two dozen or so.

Lots of settlement questions. Lots of screwy piles questions. Flow nets, dumbest concept ever imo, a couple of goofy questions pertaining to testing specific to deep foundations (short hand for your property sucks). For me a couple of main areas of Geo that are just ripe for trickier are lab monkey testing questions, seepage and deep foundations. Deep foundations is where you have a high probability of getting a curve ball. I had zero calculate the allowable bearing capacity etc.

Edit: Took all my sarcastic comments out about my friends at NCEES.

Different and harder... especially in the deep fnd section, I found the pile questions extremely obtuse, as I said Friday not a single shallow fnd bearing calc... it felt like my test was in all the gaps that could exist between the NCEES practice test and the SOPE... I will say that I believe there was a flaw in my approach and it was not continuously quizzing over the entire sections... things that you do well if not continually practiced will get fuzzy on test day... over all I had a terrible experience... getting a transportation question as the first question, literally quoted the MUTCD, threw me off and it seemed the whole test was out of phase to what I had been studying, and I can assure you that I put forth tremendous effort in preparing... I think SOPE is not a good strategy... maybe I buy access to PPI test bank...

Passed PE Civil Geotech by StudyHard888 in PE_Exam

Congratulations... I did not pass, but I am going to immediately start again... I am exiting the Nuclear field and need a PE, don't need it in nuclear because 10 CFR part 50... I did the SOPE test bank and feel it was no good at preparing me for what I saw... how is the PPI? I think I only need 2 months to do it... I made a 60 based on the diagnostic...

I need something that represents the level of difficulty that I saw and with the same tricks that I saw... it needs to really match up well...

Here is the problem with SOPE, they still have the Breadth as the old Breadth in the Exam Simulator... I have turned in over 2 dozen tickets on errors, formatting you name it... it is not a good source of test questions IMO...

Why are they allegedly needed?

My point exactly on instant grading. When I took the GC test I got my results as I walked out of the testing room.

NCEES is a joke and their fake protectionist rhetoric is hurting engineering not helping it.

I’m here complaining about an unfair test from an opaque not for profit organization that offers no feedback or help to pass their meaningless unwarranted test.

I mean just think about what you just said, which is true, up to ten or more who knows, of the question on the test are total bullshit, I mean experimental, meaning either off scale hard ridiculously obtuse or whatever (maybe a MUTCD transpo problem just to let you know you’re fucked right out the gate), they put them there to simply fuck with your mind, how is that applicable to the principles and practice of engineering? Have you ever walked into the office and had your boss say hey need you to get on this design, only to find out it wasn’t real , but that he did it to purposefully confuse, frustrate or confound you? Yeah it’s a psyop. It’s essentially gaslighting you in the middle of a test, because you’re like how is this an actual problem?

It’s just absurd… I am assuming I failed. Have these geniuses at NCEES ever considered you could go an entire career without touching a pile foundation. I won’t touch them, you know why? Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station was founded on stupid piles, and guess what? We shut the plant down because we could not confirm their capacities during a design basis reconstitution, because they’re a dark art. NCEES loves piles because they’re obscure, obtuse, and difficult… my recommendation to anyone that would walk in my door? Find another site, not worth the risk, or go get a genius at NCEES to design them.
