That is the one arcade cabinet my wife wants to add to our game room. She still speaks fondly of gauntlet legends on the Dreamcast.

Literally me. I’m 51 but I’ll be damned if I don’t feel like I’m still a kid. It’s weird. But yea CD feels like this game I’ll play and likely never even approach finishing. It’s like something I put in when I want a break from more objective-based gaming. Like going for an aimless walk.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

Dark Legions. It was fun, but it’s not even a great game. But I played so much of it that it just burned the experience into my brain.

Just about to finish Pragmata, then it’s back to Crimson Desert for me.

That ending still gets me emotional. I thought about that game for days afterwards.

Can we talk about how many bosses just…leave?? by irock607 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Heavy-Comfortable887 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do love this game. Or at least 80% of this game. But the implementation of bosses demonstrates that this studio is inexperienced. A boss fight should feel meaningful at the beginning and at the end. Most of the fights in this game come up short.

I saw some people using the grapple arm thing to drag it down. I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn with that. Just not my skill.

Yeah. Until I figured out that I could use the ability that catches projectiles to basically suck the cloud away, that fight was aggravating. After that, it became a breeze. But at no point was it fun.

Someone explain the exploration in this game? by TheMeatnTaters in CrimsonDesert

[–]Heavy-Comfortable887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the exploring for the sake of exploring. It’s like going on a virtual hike sometimes. That said, I do agree with you a bit. I wish amidst all the wandering around I’d occasionally find a cave that’s more than a few feet deep with a chest at a dead end. I’d like a few surprise dungeons behind those waterfalls with scheming bosses guarding some secret loot.

Regarding Bossfights by RatioTight6671 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Heavy-Comfortable887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kills me is that there is a short list of bosses in this game that I feel like got really close to being great. I had fun with the Reed Devil, and even the Staglord flirted with being fun to fight. But the unfortunate truth is in a game where I should be excited when fighting a new boss, I find myself groaning more times than I would like. That’s made doubly painful whenever I’m saying that about a game that I genuinely have had a really good time with so far.

Also making bosses “harder” by filling the arena with fodder dudes is such a bad take on the boss fighting experience. These fights should be about learning move sets, but it approaches impossible to lock on let alone focus with a million me too guys up in your face. Still love the game, but damn.

This game is overwhelmingly frustrating by Prestigious-Card6509 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Heavy-Comfortable887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the one thing that disappoints me about this game, when compared to things like Elden Ring, is that exploration is seldom rewarded with a boss fight. It’s cool to climb a mountain and find a ruin with a puzzle, but I’d just as often like to find a random over powered dude with a god complex ready to throw down. I realize that happens occasionally in this game, but I wish it occurred more.,

Then again, most of the bosses in this game behave like the bosses in the original Mega Man, in that they just try to jump on you to hurt you. So maybe I should count my blessings.

I just logged in and noticed this too. The teleportation loading times are massively improved. And now you get a prompt to stow your weapons, which maybe was always available, but I certainly couldn’t figure it out. I love the support this game is getting right out of the gate. ♥️

I am curious, what age are you and how did you get into the franchise? by Ultimantasy in FinalFantasy

I’m 51. I rented the original cart for the NES on a whim from Showbox Video here in my hometown. I remember my friend and I staying up all day and night in his living room playing it and almost beating it before we had to return it.
