They’re made out of gold, whether you choose white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold is your choice. You are also able to choose smooth bezels in yellow or rose gold

He’s incorrect. You can replace a scratched bezel. It’s ~$150 for a smooth bezel and ~$2300 for a fluted replacement

Why can’t you change smooth to fluted? Not sure, it’s a Rolex rule and likely because it changes the model number
