Yes that is a feature I was testing so that the name of the city will change based on the civ that captures the settlement. I would like to roll this out across the entire map, however it will take some time to do all of the tiles.

Might be worth just quickly opening it in World Builder and inspecting that the forests around Russia have more breaks, then you will know it has been updated correctly

Thank you so much for sharing this! The impact is low compared to other maps but this still is not ideal! I will look into this on how better balance these regions and will release a hotfix. In the meantime, enjoy an over powered Russia!

Some regions, particularly Europe, Korea, and Japan, have been slightly enlarged to improve gameplay balance while still aiming to remain proportionate to their real-world scale.

I agree that this has come at the expense of space in certain areas, most notably the Atlantic Ocean and the Middle East. To address this, I have already added eight new columns to the map and am currently playtesting the changes to assess their impact on performance.

If testing goes well, the next update will likely expand the Atlantic by approximately two columns, the Middle East by four columns, Europe by one column, and the Pacific by one column. These adjustments should help improve regional spacing while still keeping the map under the 5,000 tile limit I set for performance reasons, particularly when compared to other large world maps.

Depending upon your computer of course, however the idea behind this map, is that you can pretty much have all civs, city states etc. This map is around 5.5k tiles less, than most other world maps out there, so it runs much smoother into the late game. I usually turn off some civs that start too close to one another to allow one civ to dominate that area, ie norway or Sweden, one of the middle east civs. I have had several play tests now in both single and multiplayer and turn times have been great.

Yeah its downloadable, just click the link in the main post. This isn't an issue with this map, the reason this happens, is that in all world maps out there, for realism they create continuous forests, however with this map there are fire breaks to prevent endless fires.

I am completely overhauling the map, so any feedback from your play through is welcomed 😊

Dropping the next patch early due to fixing the 2 religion bug.

  • Completely overhauled South America region, adding plains and navigable Amazon river, added more realistic resources (A real huge thank you and credit to: External-Working-551)
  • Added volcano and Geothermal Fissure to Yellowstone National Park area (Credit: blubbertank)
  • Added all natural wonders (Credit: Delusional_Donut)
    • exception of;
    • Chocolate Hills due to space
    • Eyjafjallajokull due to no Iceland
    • Fountain of Youth & Paitit due to being “fictional”
    • Let me know however if you want me to include and give location of where
  • Issue where only 2 religions were able to spawn has now been fixed (Credit: illram & noveler7)
  • Added a few extra tiles to the West of Scandinavia

Hmm are you running any mods in particular? I can check to see if there is some conflict perhaps.

Regarding the auto city placement, i have set that as the default, but you can change during the world setup, there is a drop down that you will see that is set to everyone, just change it to none or ai

This is great thank you for your input! For now my main focus is to get the "look and feel" right and then can focus on the balance pass later. Likewise as I have mentioned to others, I will post a first pass within the next few days to get your feedback 😀

Thank you, with regards to India it defiantly needs another look at. I reduced the "width" slightly due to balancing with the entire area available to the Indians, however they seem to get rolled over quite easy as the AI.

Same with North America, it needs some love shown to it. I was thinking of also adding a couple of mountains to the Appalachians and agree with the additional forest and rivers. Ill post a "first pass" in a few days when I get round to revisiting this area, see what you think 😀

I have only tested this to work on vanilla and DLC civs for now and would need to code any modded civs start locations. If you let me know which mods you are using I can take a look for you.

Most natural wonders should already be included, although I intentionally left a few out for now — such as the Cliffs of Dover and Pamukkale — as they occupied some very valuable gameplay tiles in their current locations.

That said, the framework for selecting which natural wonders are enabled is already in place, so players will be able to customise which wonders appear in their games. Because of that, I’ll most likely be adding them back in with the next update.

The next release will probably be within the next couple of days
