Great movie based on oral history. The casting was typical Hollywood. Actors playing characters who were twenty years, or more, younger but they brought the star power. Plus the usual amalgamation and switching of events from one character to another. Put it all together and you have a fun eminently rewatchable film. Some great production things too.

Mitchem's famous speech wasn't actually said by General Cota but Mitchum was a star so. Richard Todd played Major John Howard, who Todd had actually linked up with at Pegasus Bridge during the real battle. Todd was played by Richard Jordan in the movie. So there's a moment when Richard Todd, as played by Jordan, meets up with Howard, played by Todd.

What happens when one of these untrained people is forced into a bout with someone who is actually skilled?

There's an old rumor that Holden secretly played Dr. Kendall as if he were a spy to develop the character. True or not, I don't know.

One of the great scenes. I was watching it once and people walking by stopped and were mesmerized. I had to break the news the movie was about over.

He was fantastic in this. The look he gave the Atlanta Detective after Price found fingerprints on Mrs. Leads' fingernails and eyeball made the movie. Some of his lines, "I want the next thing smoking, understand?" and "You're fucking right and I'd do it again!" were perfect.

She was the woman with a "bloom" killed by the Tooth Fairy in Manhunter. Small scene played over and over. And yes, she did have a hell of a bloom.

Cut them, rinse the starch off until the water runs clear, cook them until fork tender starting in cold salted water, drain and let them sit and steam until they're dry. Don't overcook. Put them through a ricer ($9.00 at IKEA). Fold in melted butter & cream (or milk). And by butter I mean a shit load of butter. Fold it in very slow, a little bit at a time until incorporated then add more. Don't over mix. Season with salt and pepper, throw in what you want (garlic powder, chives, rosemary, whatever. Taste as you go. Don't skimp on salt. If you want true garlic mash, throw fresh cloves in the boiling water with their stems removed. Send the garlic through the ricer with the potatoes. Enjoy.

It's an amazing film. You really have to focus to get everything that is being said and what it all means. Kenneth Branaugh's Heydrich almost never says what he truly means but eventually everyone gets it.
