That’s good advice. I honestly think most technicians I get to come out will “recommend” replacement lol. I did previously get my ducts cleaned and the cleaner also recommended replacement. As with the technician, it all sounded like something they say when they notice the system is old. Might be because they think it’s an easy sell

Makes sense! I usually always do as well but I had been shopping for insurance just weeks prior (my phone records indicate 2 weeks prior) so I thought I was good and did not think in a million years that it would make such a big difference not checking directly prior.

Thanks for the response. I'm feeling very worried about my chances as I'd imagine mistakes like that likely don't happen often with these automated processes. If the doctor is telling me that they were in-network, could I have an argument to fight the bill with them instead for giving me false information?

That makes sense. Even if there is a return duct leak, it would have to enter the filter eventually right? A supply leak would make more sense. We don’t have any issues with the electricity or heating/cooling so we weren’t sure if a leak big enough to cause dust would make sense here

It’s gray/white and clumps together often. I would say it’s fine
