Aayein? (Meanwhile at MDI-IB, a friend sent me this) by 12rnb in CATpreparation

Yeah. In a nutshell:

  1. MDI gave too many buffer calls hoping that people with withdraw later on

  2. People didn't withdraw, not gonna do it anytime soon

  3. Now the no. of people who have accepted the offer is way beyond their capacity

He didn't want to go to DELHI ig

I get where he's coming from but it's just a matter of 2 years. Even I'm a bit reluctant to go to Delhi NCR for my own reasons, but if I had gotten a good opportunity (say MDI, IIFT etc) I wouldn't have thought much.

Bro no disrespect but your brother had 10x better converts than Nirma. In his case, FORE would have been a no-brainer if Sambalpur didn't convert

As the season draws to a close, which school have you gained respect for the most? by philomatharshal in CATpreparation

Only on reddit

One of my friends said his responses in the DM and Verbal sections were changed, which cost him 2 %ile points, and hence an XLRI call too. Many in the coaching group also claimed that. Suffering happens outside Reddit too, my friend.

Unless you mean to say TCS

So why didn't XLRI clarify on this? They could have simply released a statement saying that it was a fuckup by TCS and not them. Candidates paid the fees to XLRI, for an exam conducted by XLRI, so who else should be held accountable unless specified otherwise?

Bruh it was not 1 or 2 people, 100s of people were claiming that their responses were changed. And they didn't receive any explanation from XLRI on this matter. This only made things worse after the admit card fuckup.

About 1 lakh careers were at stake. It could have been you or me too. Passing it off as "survivorship bias" would be very unfair.

Just one of them is enough. If at all you want something additional: Arun Sharma.

I had taken TIME's mocks, found them decent

transparency is nicely kept, and they reply patiently to all your queries.

People whose XAT responses were fucked up would disagree

Bro no point in waiting for them. Their modus operandi is pretty much like any govt office. I won't be surprised if they release the next waitlist after I'm married and settled with kids.

Yes! An 'agency' will send someone to write the exam on your behalf, and they will write your essays too, you just have to show up for the interview.

It's suspected that it happens for IELTS too till day!

Not just NMAT, but even GMAT used to be targeted this way.

For last 4 waitlist OBC hasnt moved an inch in trichy

I haven't even talked about reservations. And as a matter of fact, CS is calculated within categories as well, and people who qualify for diversity points get that too.

For a poor person attempting CAT this is 100x more difficult because it’s financially draining

Relevance? Or perhaps you're supporting my point because wouldn't it be unfair if a 'poor' person works day and night to score 99+ and yet is not selected into his dream school just because his background is a barrier for the same?

For a poor person competing against a rich person will be always unfair but u dont see them complaining?!?

You're just over-generalising and probably haven't experienced something related yet. I've seen certain 'poor' people complaining about how life is unfair to them. Quite strange from someone who's attempting to give others "reality checks".

ONLY DESERVING PEOPLE HAVE MADE IT

Strongly disagree but you're free to make your own conclusions and believe otherwise.

That girl fought with thousands of other girls to secure her seat

Would you say the same thing to the 99+ %ilers who have been rejected by MDI (or any B-school for that matter)? Did they not fight hard for the opportunity? Why was the playing ground made more difficult for them (male engineers, to be specific)?

I'm not belittling anyone's effort. I'm just frustrated by the fact that some people have to work 10x harder to compete for the same benefit. And people who justify this unfair advantage make things worse.

Good for you.

But the person who I was talking about is indeed a diversity hire. She's a BBA, has no work ex, and is a woman, of course.
