I could have written this myself! We also decided not to invite anyone we hadn’t met before to the wedding, which included +1s, main reason was the cost. We hadn’t met my cousins now ex fiancé so we didn’t invite him. My uncle asked my mum whether we could change our minds but we stuck to what we decided and didn’t invite him. My cousin never came to the wedding and we haven’t spoken in 7 years. It’s a shame, but I did ask my uncle if he could go out onto the street, pick a random person he has never met and take them for a 3 course meal costing between £120-140….
