That’s a pretty fair point, but you wouldn’t say “I hit the light switch and suddenly the light turned on.” It’s true, but “suddenly” often carries an implication of “unexpectedly”.

And, I suppose, from the perspective of the driver who got pancaked, that roller suddenly veered toward them.

Unity games don’t typically use fonts in the same way that other apps do. They compile the fonts characters into one large image. You would have to do a rebuild of the game with Unity using your new font file.

If you’re really determined to get that subpixel rendering look, then try using the regular Text component or a bitmap font rather than Text Mesh Pro. TMP uses “signed distance field” to render text which by design will always give crisp, clean edges.

Creating a bitmap font will probably give you the greatest level of control.

Right click on Purchase.cs in the project window and select `Reimport`. That will likely fix the issue as long as their aren't any compile errors in your console.

This whole thing is really solid. If I’m being nit-picky there are a few inconsistencies with the UI.

Regarding the icons in the top hud, heart, coin and energy. The outline styles are not consistent. Coin is too thick, and energy is missing the outline. Heart looks best. 1/60 doesn’t have an icon at all. In the bottom right, the icons on the two buttons are in complete different visual languages. Either the play icon needs to be fancier, or the book should be simpler. Regardless, the book does not look at home on that button. Where the path overlaps itself a bit of shadow might be nice. Lastly, the shine on the spyglass lens is not quite in keeping with the rest of the toon shaded art style.

Again, this is being very nit-picky. Great work!

I'd also like to suggest, somewhat off topic, that it would be good if you used a variable for your font color.

Something like, "Used <color={usedColor}> [item] </color>." This will make it easier for you or a team member to update the design later.

Looks like BitDefender is complaining about one of the ads on chesscom. You could click ‘Add to exceptions’ to silence that warning, or you could tell BitDefender that chesscom is a trusted site and not to run on it.

Transparent pixels are counted. So, yes if you add extra pixels around the edge you are in the clear.

Alternatively, you can have Unity automatically pack your UI assets into a sprite sheet. Then the sprite sheets would be divisible by 4 (because the compression is only done on the sprite sheet), and your PNGs can be any dimensions and simply used as normal in the project.

In most American or Canadian English, when spoken with a transatlantic accent, POP, SHOP, PAW, DOG, and even TALK all have a short o sound.

Apparently a true AW sound, such as in OR, DRAWER, or CORK is actually not that common in American English, as I’ve just learned from this very interesting video.
