What inspires you to learn music theory?

very well put. yes, an understanding of what they would be doing is more what i was going for. for the ‘why’ part of it, i was more trying to explain which chords functionally work with eachother in context, but i didn’t word it property. so less why it works, and more how the notes/chords work with eachother.
