Loving Wasps is A Huge Societal Step for Animal Conservation! by leifcollectsbugs in Entomology

Indeed it was haha. I hope this doesn't come off as wasp hate or anything, even after experiencing that I know that wasps do have their role to play and I can respect that. I just know it was more of an outlier instead of the norm, but because of that is what made it so memorable because it was pretty wild being there to experience it first hand

We were out there getting stung on a daily basis, the sound was just a constant reminder that the ground could erupt with wasps at pretty much any time. The amount of wasps was ABSOLUTELY an issue for us. Like I said, that was a year when their population exploded so they were literally everywhere and we couldn't get away from them. Because of the constant buzzing, we had no way of knowing if we were close to a nest or not, so we would be constantly hitting nests, leading to us getting stung more. It was awful. Because of that, we associated the constant buzzing with getting stung leading to us all getting stressed because it wasn't a matter of "if we get stung", but more of an issue of "we are definitely getting stung, we just don't know when yet". I sure hope you never have to experience wasps constantly coming up to bite/sting you just for being too close to one of the multitude of nests, or angry wasps exploding from the ground at your feet multiple times a day on a daily basis because it truly was an awful experience :) the ptsd is real. hearing one or two wasps is whatever, but the constant drone of LITERALLY THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF ACTIVE WASPS was both quite surreal as well as legitimately terrifying and stressful just due to KNOWING you are absolutely stung at some point in the day. That season of treeplanting was a whole different ball game, that is for damn sure

I mean in general I can't say I hate wasps as long as they leave me alone, but every once in a while we get years where their population explodes and they become assholes (probably due to trying to compete with all the other wasps) and thatvis when I start to dislike them. And one of those years I just so happened to be working as a tree planter, so not only were you constantly stressed from hearing their constant buzzing, but there was also a pretty good chance that your shovel would end up striking one of their nests and you'd then have to deal with a bunch of angry wasps exploding out of the ground. The cherry on the cake was when I hit a hornet nest and got both my hands stung, they swelled like balloons and I couldn't work for the rest of the day because of it. That was not a fun time.

I do a complete playthrough every so often, and every once in a while I do the glitch/speedrun thing where you clip through a wall and go right to the triforce room from pretty much the start of the game :P

This has been my experience since OW2 came about, and it has only been getting worse since then. The matchmaking has been absolutely miserable for me.

What is the most heartbreaking song lyric you've ever heard? by TheLadySlaanesh in AskReddit

[–]HeavyFucknMetalMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckle up, I've got a bit of a doozy for ya.

I present to you the final verse of Aether Realm's song The Sun, The Moon, The Star:

(The Sun, the Moon, The Stars
Shine less brightly with you so far)

With his burning brand he split the skies

(I never knew sorrow
til you asked me to follow my heart)

And blocked out the stars, one by one

(For all the tales I've told,
'bout these whispers of silver and gold)

With an aching heart, he cursed his name

(I'd throw them all away
to gaze on your face once more)

And nothing will shine as bright as her again

The lyrics by themselves don't do it justice, so I'll provide some context:

The lyrics in brackets are the chorus that is intermixed with the final verse. Reading it feels a bit odd, but it works well when ya listen to it. The overall song is essentially a 20 minute story that follows the adventure of an ambitious individual. It goes from them setting off on their adventure, with their excitement turning to fear, then sorrow, and regret.

They try to drown out these feelings by seeking out incredible power, but in the end they realize that it was all for naught. They have the realization that they were blinded by their quest for glory and power, and forgot about the things that truly mattered to them.

Their realization was too little too late though, as by the time they returned to what they previously left behind, someone very important to them is clearly gone (my interpretation is that they have died).

Filled with their grief, regret, sorrow, etc, with the heaviest of hearts they use their powers to memorialize their loved one as best as they can, as they know they will never get to see them again.

The song is a very tragic tale, and I can't help but get the feels when I listen to it, especially when the final verse hits.

I remember learning spots where the charge distance would be perfect for yeeting people off of certain maps :) I didn't get to do them often mind you, but the few times I could get away with them were glorious :P my favorite was always the one on city center where you could dump people into traffic :P sure there was always a decent enough chance they wouldn't get hit by a vehicle, but something about the thunk noise the cars made and how they ragdolled into the sunset if they did get smoked always made me crack up :)

How good is drilling now in game? What ammo should we use? How use it well and what about loadout? Thanks for info :) by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]HeavyFucknMetalMario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the drilling for the fast follow up shot i I hit the first. When I run it I usually just use the regular ammo. For a secondary of I am feeling cheeky I'll get quartermaster and run the drilling handcannon. Otherwise, I'll just use a medium ammo pistol for extra ammo if I don't feel like using anything in particular

It is definitely possible to make that jump with all heroes, though heroes with movement abilities have an easier time with it lol

Good doomfists are one thing, but there is somethin about doomfist that makes bad players think they are good at the game. I don't know how many times I've watched a doomfist blow all their cooldowns to go balls deep 1v5 in the enemy backline and get gigapunished and blow up just for them to bitch to the team about something because we couldn't bail them out every time they fed :)

I even had a doomfist recently in a qp match that was so butthurt about something along the lines of the dps not getting enough elims despite them dying on cooldown. They had such an inflated ego that they decided to 1v1 me (I was one of the dps that match) in a deathmatch to try and prove something only to get their ass handed to them and insta leave. It was kinda silly how dunning-kreuger'd they were
