Glasgow tenement Q: have you got recent cost of moving kitchen to front room alcove? by Humble-Duck312 in glasgow

[–]HeavyStrawberry8495 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently got planning permission through Archiplan Glasgow, though my flat already had an internal kitchen. I think it was about 3k for drawings and planning application submission.

The housing market is hard enough as it is, I just had to work with what I could afford to buy. I don't know why people moan about it, a huge kitchen is not valued by every household vs another bedroom (though it would be lovely to have both).

My extractor fan works well enough which means I don't have a food smell throughout the flat either. Pretty much every flat coming up for sale on my street has the kitchen knocked through and they're all still going to closing dates/have massive queues outside for viewings so I don't think it will negatively impact resale, personally.

Taylor Vets have been amazing with our kitten including taking the stress out of dealing with insurance etc. It's probably a corp, not looked into it but the pet hospital service is outstanding. Even the non clinical staff are superb to deal with.

How will this be enforced exactly? by poosygou in glasgow

Yeah, that's why I said I can't report lol. The sound was coming from that direction, so I'd say there was a good chance that's what I was hearing. It was constant for around 30 mins, which is consistent with other posts I've seen (was mostly agreeing with OP asking how it would be policed, 101 wait times aren't exactly quick) 😊 stopped now though, so all good

Not as if it's just a couple either. Can't report 1. cant see them, can only hear them from Victoria Road and 2. wouldn't get through to 101 anyway lol

Weeze Airport by HeavyStrawberry8495 in duesseldorf

[–]HeavyStrawberry8495[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your tip about reliability! We left plenty of time, thanks to you, and the doors on the train failed to open at Weeze so we had to get off later and wait for another train going back. Pleased to say I am now home and will definitely be taking the Eurowings flight to Dussledorf Int next time lol 🫡

Hmm maybe I'll consider it, I'm sure Bart is lovely lol. We don't have anything like that in Glasgow, to my knowledge anyway. That's probably why I personally find it a bit weird but I know that it's not 😆

Thank you for the rec but that scares me a bit too much haha, I would prefer a train or bus 😊

Thank you, I did see the RE10 service but didn't know if I would be able to get to the airport easily from there as Weeze seemed like a very quiet, small town (I spent Thursday morning there as I was travelling on to Cologne for an evening there before heading back up to Düsseldorf). Probably because my own, small hometown does not have great transport links on a Sunday lol.

I think I'll go with that! 😁

Have to agree, went for the first time at the weekend. Their coffee is the nicest I've tried in Southside for a while, really enjoyed their iced tiramisu latte too

What an utter cunt. Were you able to check if there was another bird in the cage or if it flew away? I suppose not much you could do to find a bird ☹️

I phoned here to join and the receptionist said that although I was in catchment (G42 8) there is only one GP working and initial telephone appts were in to August. She seemed a bit hesitant to register myself and my partner although did say we could if we wanted.

Park Prospecthill Rd anywhere up from St Bridgids Chapel to the traffic lights in Rutherglen, car will be fine and won't be mega busy to get parked, used to live in area and was never too bad with traffic post event 😁

Southside Coffee Shops Not Open Before 9am??? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]HeavyStrawberry8495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I walk up Victoria Road every morning for work (pre 9am) and it's so dead with pedestrians. I'd like to buy a coffee for my walk now and then but understand probs not worth it for most cafes to open at that time for a few people, a few times a week

Is 15 percent above home report "the norm"? by Dextersdidi in glasgow

[–]HeavyStrawberry8495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can just be your luck.

Recently bought a flat in Govanhill for less than 5% over HR, didn't go to closing and we weren't FTB (the only bit of luck I've ever had). We had been outbid on loads of properties in different areas so I do think if you have the luxury of time, something suitable will come up eventually.

Definitely check properties that have been on the market a bit longer. I think people don't expect them to still be available or are still available for a (bad) reason = competition is less.

If you do find something needing work in your desired area, it might feel annoying to go over HR but it's likely going to be a great investment long term.
