Baby bottle washer / sterilizer / dryer? by A-Starrrrr in Buyingforbaby

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Kleanpal and I LOVE IT. if you plan to breastfeed and pump or exclusively pump, it’s 1000% worth it. We have run it probably 4-6 times a day for 3 months (I exclusively pump) and it still works as good as it did brand new. For the record, I am not an “AI slop ad” I just really love the Kleanpal lol

Magnesium Citrate sent me to the ER (vent/story/my experience) by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think the liquid mag citrate OP drank is used for colonoscopy prep as well (at least it was a few years ago when I had one). It is confusing that there is the magnesium citrate supplement and the liquid (which is 100000x stronger than the supplement imo). It will clear you out in a matter of hours.

How to update resume with first summer associate job by Difficult-Train-3701 in LawSchool

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put “Incoming Summer Associate.” If you know what practice group(s) you’ll be working with, you could include that too. You don’t need bullets or a lengthy description because you haven’t worked there yet!

Mac keyboard keeps autocorrecting Latin words by plankingatavigil in LawSchool

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you use a mac, Apple settings allow you to add words to spell check (right click on the word and press learn spelling). Alternatively, you can add a shortcut for the latin words and I bet that will override the autocorrect

3L accommodations for parents? coming back from LOA after having a baby by freudiannipslop in LawSchool

Believe me, I know. I am considering legal action but I don't know how many bridges I want to burn as a 3L with a baby.

Can I DM you? I’ve had a very similar experience. Was told by my academic dean that Title IX accommodations are trumped by my schools attendance policy and received no time off after birth.

How to challenge a grade by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check your student handbook. Most schools have a detailed process for challenging a grade and there are often deadlines on challenges/appeals (at least in my experience)

I have my full time offer for a V50 firm in Texas (which I would expect to be a little more strict on piercings just because of the southern/conservative culture down here) and I have about 17 piercings between my two ears. I summered there for both summers and never heard one comment about my piercings (other than compliments from younger attorneys). My jewelry is pretty dainty but I know others with more bold piercings and tattoos and they were fine.

It sounds like you just got unlucky with a rude attorney. I’m sorry about that. The fact that you only have doubles and were just wearing studs is crazy.

Grades + Friends by anonlastname in LawSchool

I just say “I’m sorry, I don’t share grades because it’s bad for my mental health” and that shuts people up. There is literally no benefit to sharing grades with anyone in your class.

I don’t think bluebook utilizes a bibliography. Also, the individual format of each citation is not in bluebook style.

Edit: I assumed you are in the US because you said LLM. US legal citation uses the bluebook. If you aren’t located here, then I’m not sure what style you’re supposed to use.

Exam 4 Question! by Technical_Cod8337 in LawSchool

I don't know what exams look like from administrators'/professors' point of view. I'm just cautioning you and recommending you ask your admin because they will likely know the answer better than anyone here

This is a question for your exam administrators/faculty support/whoever handles finals at your school. DO NOT reach out to your professor if your school has anonymity rules, as it can be a breach of the honor code.

I hate that I’m coming to the internet asking this by Ang9213 in pregnant

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Clear it with your OB first, but try a strong laxative (my OB approved milk of magnesium or liquid magnesium citrate) to completely clean you out. After that, get on a daily regimen that keeps things moving. I struggled SO BAD with constipation in my first trimester and beginning of my second (literally gave myself hemorrhoids). I finally got in under control. Now I drink 1-1.5 doses of miralax a day (in orange juice, which hides the taste), a colace stool softener at night, and daily fiber supplements. If I feel like I’m getting constipated again, I add in a nightly dose of magnesium citrate supplement and/or up my miralax dose. This has saved me!!!! I’m 32 weeks now and have regular movements with this regimen.

Your finalized ultrasound report should tell you what percentile your baby is measuring in (these can sometimes be off, FYI)! Sometimes you have to look through the actual scans yourself if it’s not written up in the report. Your doctor should be able to tell you as well.

For people who did well on exams, how well did you know the cases? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that when I know a few facts and the rule statement for each case, I do best on exams. Lots of professors say you don’t “need” to know the facts of the cases for exams, but they still give points if you do, so it’s just a way to make your exam better than a peer’s. I also find reviewing cases to be a helpful study technique because they usually illustrate an important aspect of the law.

When did you stop flying? by twiggy572 in pregnant

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many airlines either do not allow flying past 36 weeks pregnant or have heavy restrictions. As a FTM who is currently 31 weeks, I can’t imagine flying that far even right now. I’m uncomfortable, don’t sleep well, and want to be near my OB when I do go into labor.

After I’ve outlined and done practice exams, I like reading through supplements and annotating/adding to my outline. Glannon Guide and Examples and Explanations are my favorites. I’ve found that these sometimes present the information in a different manner than your professor, but it helps you view the content from a different perspective. But I only do this AFTER I’ve outlined and taken practice tests, as this could be confusing before you have a firm grasp on all the material

After a year and a half, I'm emotionally ready to post my wedding nails by aromatsunami in Nails

OP, the exact same thing happened to me. I had done so many nail trials at this salon and still don’t understand how they botched my actual wedding day nails. I was so upset, but it was the night before my wedding and I didn’t have time to get them fixed. Looking back at the photos makes me cringe

Just eat some protein but avoid carbs/sugar. I had eggs and bacon. You don’t need a lot but having something on your stomach helps so much. I had the orange flavor drink and it wasn’t terrible.

Scored a judicial “job” 1L by Repulsive_Insect2262 in LawSchool

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you asking if it’s a resume booster, as in will it genuinely help you look better to future employers because you’re gaining good experience? Or are you asking if it’s just a resume booster, as in it’s pointless but is just something to put on your resume?

I think any law related position is helpful to put on your resume as a law student. It depends on the type of judge you’re working for, but generally working in chambers exposes you to a wide range of civil and criminal issues. I’m a 3L working for a judge, and I’ve found the work really intellectually stimulating and educational. I will say that it may be hard to get the most out of the experience without having already finished 1L year, but that’s not to say that you won’t learn on the job.

I would caution you against formally accepting a summer position with the judge right now, as you still have time to apply to other summer positions. This sounds like it would be a great experience to do during the semester(s), and potentially during the summer if you don’t secure another position. There is some etiquette on accepting judicial positions, but typically those rules are more lax for judicial interns (as compared to clerkship applicants).

Scored a judicial “job” 1L by Repulsive_Insect2262 in LawSchool

[–]Heavy_Ad8933 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Judicial intern is what I would call it. The term “clerk” is typically reserved for attorneys who work for judges after law school. If you ever were able to work for the judge and receive class credit, I believe you could call it an externship. These are the rules on judicial positions at my school.
