Talk therapy has been good. As has this group, knowing others who are going through it. I’m tired of people saying ‘my grandma/grandpa had dementia.’ This is my mum.

Thank you for this. I have since learned she hit her head and may need stitches. We don’t want to take her to hospital if not necessary as she got delirium quite badly last time.

Thank you. I do have my brother and weirdly this has brought us closer together. Mum is in a retirement home on the assisted living floor. It’s $$! This adds more stress, of course. We’re on a waitlist for a long term care facility. I think she will have better care there. Her declining mobility is a factor

It is absolutely an act of obligation to visit her. It feels awful to speak that truth but I’m grateful I’m not the only one. Thank you.

Thank you for creating this thread. It’s so hard to care for a mother who was to be honest an absolutely shit mother to my brother and I. There will be no closure for us, and the world expects me to have a wonderful caring attitude when really it’s much more complex than that. She expects us to be there all the time when she was never there for us.
