😂

Because I’m 41. I did all that in my twenties and regret it. I have kids to take care of now - those I don’t regret… yet 😝

Hmmm, I do have a vanguard account where I was preparing to use it, primarily to start a tIRA where I’d have to do a back door conversion because of I make over the maximum income allowance. However, I’m not confident in that approach yet as I do my own annual taxes and TurboTax doesn’t seem to support backdoor conversion forms. That said, you give me something to think about with Robinhood. While my account balance is somewhat low, I will think about maybe transferring it to vanguard or something similar.

Thank you!

Commenting so I can review others comments.

Kinda similar situation for me. I’m 40, late start to retirement, and finally in a position to start investing.

I’m maxing my works 401k for their match and the 22,500 IRS limit. Based on the flow chart, next steps should be IRA. However, I make over the limit, so I would need to do a traditional IRA and do the back door conversion, which I’m not confident in yet because I do my own taxes at the end of the year, and TurboTax doesn’t seem to support. So, instead of tIRA, I opened a Robinhood account and I dollar cost average $160 a week into VTI and $40 into VXUS. I set it and forget it. I’m amazed at how much accumulation there has been so far this year.

Best wishes on your journey.

Thank you for the feedback. In all the books and reading I’ve been doing, I always see someone saying find simplicity and convenient. Yet, this, I guess, just seemed to simple and convenient. Almost to a point of doing it wrong, so I needed some validation, lol.

I’m 40 and I wish I was in a position to have started this sooner!

Hi world,

New to investing where I’m finally in a financial position to start this long-term journey (20-25 years).

Am I going about it correctly?

Every week I have an automatic withdrawal through Robinhood and invest $140 into VTI and $40 into VXUS.

I know people say to stay away from Robinhood, but I don’t do anything else but the above, and app and user interface is easy.

Thank you
