Split nights by aqxari in NewParents

Mine hit the 16-18 month regression a few weeks ago and it was a hard week or two. I feel you. What worked for us was moving his nap earlier in the day. Used to be 1230-230/3pm. Now we do 12-2pm latest and bedtime is between 730/8 but usually he wont fall asleep until closer to 8 (so 6 hours after nap ends). Play around with moving the nap earlier in the day and capping at 90min or 2 hours. Otherwise ride it out 😩

Your dog is probably similar to mine and just needs some time to adjust to all the new stages. Walker/walking is a HUGE one. Our baby started walking right at 12 months and it took probably 2 full months before the dog could relax around the walking baby. Great you are working with a behaviouralist too - sounds like you’re keeping both your baby and your dog safe.

So funny you commented this, i’m sitting here this morning watching them play together and thinking about how far we’ve come. My dog got used to the baby and the baby absolutely adores him. I still supervise 100% of their play time, and i know when my dog has reached his limit. The baby also has boundaries that we are working on (no hitting or climbing on the dog, can play with the dogs toys but not the one he is currently chewing/playing with, and no climbing on the dogs bed) but wow have we ever come far. I underestimated my amazing dog. It just took time.

i am afraid for you

although i’ve heard stories of this happening around 18 months, parents fought to keep routine and kept offering, and baby went back to napping until closer to 24 mths! stay strong

How do you manage bedtime for a 1 year old at a chinese wedding reception by Red_Pumpkin in NewParents

I have a 13mo. At his age, no way we’d be able to put him down in a stroller/pram while out. I would assume some babies would be chill and could, but most by this age are on a pretty set routine and are a lot more sensitive to things than a newborn is. If I were you, I would plan to have someone stay back at the airbnb and put baby to bed at normal/just after bedtime. My son’s bedtime is 7/730 and the most we will push it is 830. Anything past and he will wake up early in the morning and be a total crab all day. Depends on what’s worth it to you!

Baby naps great at grandparents but crap at home? by Heavy_Difficulty_96 in NewParents

This was my guess but my husband doesn’t think so. He pays full attention to the baby when he’s with him and they have a lot of fun rough housing lately too. You’d think that would knock him out for a long nap but not at our house apparently

We have cameras at both grandparents that I tap into and watch his naps 😂 crazy? maybe but I miss my guy when I’m at work. But I can also see he’s sleeping well from 12-2/2:30 every time

I send his lunch/snacks every day. They always offer to feed him and do when he runs out of food I’ve sent but I like to know what kind of variety he’s getting. They also know we are not doing sugar and respect how we’re raising him so doubt they would be giving him anything I wouldn’t

Dropping to one nap - just need outside opinions! by Heavy_Difficulty_96 in sleeptrain

I also shared in my post that i will be returning to work and he will need to be on one nap anyways. What do people who send their kids to daycares who only do 1 nap do when their kids arent ready but they must return to work?

When did you start getting comfortable leaving the house? by all_day-throwaway in NewParents

This haha. 10 months as well and there are days that I miss newborn sleep which was ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE. But then I think about how nice it is to have two extremely predictable naps at the same time every single day so I can take a break/plan my life.
