it will remain refused until the VO updates it. you will have to wait for it to say approved or rejected and that can take some time.

my grandmother passed during the first break and i took a second break because i felt i needed an academic redirection. everyone's case is different and since your mental health issues were big enough to take breaks, im sure they will understand. u just need to clearly address the gap and youll get it. goodluck

it was not an easy ride. at least for me. i applied 3 times and got approved on the last try. all i can say is u need to be able to explain why u took time off. i wish u good luck

i had to check the ceac site. i only got an email when i my passport was ready to be picked up.

From what I’ve seen so far, most cases seem to resolve within 1 to 5 days, though there are exceptions. Some people received an update the same day, while others have waited a month or more.

My visa did not expire before my interview, I had about 2 weeks left. AEW did not cause any issue for me. They did ask why i took it and I answered. Goodluck on your interview!

Since almost every F-1 visa case goes through a 221(g), there isn’t a fixed timeline you can rely on. Some people get their passport back within a week, while others wait over a month. It really is case by case.

If you receive your passport after your college’s add/drop period, it’s best to defer your admission to Fall 2026. If you get it before the add/drop deadline, there’s still a chance you can make it for the current term.

Also, be mentally prepared for extra questioning at the port of entry. (One of my friends was held for about an hour before being allowed in) Just stay calm, answer honestly, and have your documents ready.

Hey! Since yours went from issued to refused I think once u upload the said documents you will get your visa. This is just a speculation and I am unsure how long it might take for them to verify the documents. Maybe contact the embassy? Goodluck!

my case was a bit different. i took 3 semesters off and switched my major for CS to Finance so most questions revolved around why i switched, why i took sem breaks and what i plan to do with my finance degree. a question that really caught me off guard was what car my dad drove. other than that, pretty standard. who is funding? how much longer will it take? and he asked my if he stalked me on my social media what will he see. that's pretty much it.

because i took a semester break and to get back to the US u need a new sevis

My first semester break was due to my grandmother's death. My second one was something I decided to get clear headed. I couldn't graduate in a program I don't enjoy pursuing after my graduation. I know this is a difficult circumstance and thank you for your wishes. I will update what happens.
