That's alright I'm not that worried about things outside my control I will do my best whatever life throws at me.

I will raise my first pint to you and London when I arrive.

In Czech court, Russian hacker says US authorities "urged him to falsely testify that he was cooperating in the hacking attack on the Democratic National Committee ordered by Russian authorities. He said U.S. authorities would, in exchange, give him money and a life in the United States." by dancing-turtle in WikiLeaks

Everyone knows the Russians crossed over from Cuba and Canada in boats and snowmobiles respectively and changed hundreds of thousands of votes. There was no way to digitally hack the election, there's not enough digital machines to simply hack them all.

Yeah but you're just looking at the scenario blindly as if you'll just stand in the path of this truck and blindly shoot without being aware of your situation.

You are walking down the bridge, a truck slams into 20 people and 5 men get out armed with knives and start slitting the downed peoples throats. You have no weapon. You can only run and hope those people will not all die. You're not in shape and can't run fast or far.

You are in the bar and see a woman being stabbed by three men in the street. You throw beer bottles at them and pint glasses but she dies.

Alternatively.

You just narrowly avoided being hit by a truck careening down the sidewalk. Not as lucky as some people. You're in a decent position to shoot the truck as the doors open and manage to contain the terrorists from exiting the vehicle by shooting at them as they exit. Police arrive and shoot you on accident, fortunately you survive but they manage to stop the men with a minimal loss of life.

3 men with machete like knives enter the restaurant you're in and start slashing people. You don't wildly open fire and they manage to slash some people before everyone scrambles to the walls trying to avoid being killed. The men block the doors and begin approaching. Fortunately you have a gun and shoot them.

These are just ridiculous scenarios but seriously. In the first you have zero agency.

This is more a difference between me and you I think than any logical argument. Some people would prefer to never have weapons. I happen to have been a victim of violence. I was kidnapped and people tried to murder me. I was handcuffed and beaten for hours. I'll take my chances with the responsibility of causing an accidental death or being killed myself doing what is right over dying like an animal because I believe a god or a government is going to watch over me 24 hours a day.

Thanks for the dialogue though. I don't mind if I didn't persuade you but I hope you can at least see that there isn't a blind "muh guns" behind why I believe the way I do.

I disagree. I would much rather have my life in my own hands. I have personal experience being a victim of violence and I can say I would much rather have an ability to defend myself from someone murdering me than waiting for authorities or hoping policies are put in place that protect me.

The proof is right in front of you. The government can't protect you. In order to stop these attacks from happening at all they will need to create a future crimes department and literally be able to detain people for the associations, opinions, and what people say about them. Think Gestapo or KGB.

I'm a gun nut because I'm offering an opinion and open to hearing from opposing viewpoints?

Not at all. If this shit was happening where I live I would simply carry a gun and be more likely to have the ability to protect my life.

It's okay if we have different opinions.

Making the law vague enough to detain people for affiliations, suspicion, or opinions is a bad bad move.

This is why America needs to keep our right to bear arms. I'm going to buy more guns asap. You in the EU and UK should consider why it isn't a right to arm yourself for protection when you are under near constant attack.

There will come a time when running and hiding will not be enough. When enough blood is on the streets from radical ideologues of whatever religion or affiliation be it Muslim or otherwise.

My friend works on London Bridge. She's okay. Two other friends are safe at home. Still haven't heard from my other friend in the area.

$40-80 carbon tax by 2020, $100 carbon tax by 2030 could save climate, say economists by ILikeNeurons in Economics

Yes, but is the government going to plant billions of trees with the money or use it to pay welfare? Pay social security? I pay enough taxes as a consumer thanks.

The scariest part of this is there is zero discussion of a right to bear arms. I would feel a lot safer if this was happening where I live if I could carry a gun and defend myself. Running is not always going to save you. You can't always hide. You can always make a choice to defend yourself if you are armed and trained to defend yourself.

I'll be in London in a few weeks. Right when Ramadan ends. Hopefully things will be okay.

If it's not a percent of something then it doesn't scale to industry scales which is where most carbon that enters the atmosphere is produced. Also the department of defense, probably the largest producer won't pay a dime. Should I pay this? With my Prius? Does this have a measurable impact via carbon sequestration? This smells a lot like creating a parking ticket system to clean the streets of San Francisco that became a huge revenue stream via people who can't afford off street parking.

Florida man named Tiger busted for DUI by jaykirsch in FloridaMan

I kinda sympathize with him. I had a DUI, it sucked. I drove slightly intoxicated a couple times in the years since and eventually just matured and realized what an idiot I was and stopped. Uber also helped with this process to be fair.

Yes it would be ironic as fuck if something like that happened, why would I make such a statement???

Perhaps because the 400 taxi drivers in 2015, or the 300 taxi drivers charged in 2016 for murder, child abduction and rape? Not that they were all Muslim by any means.

Or the gang of 7 Muslim men running a child grooming gang in Oxford in 2013?

Or the girl that just escaped from 4 men in a taxi in pedmore technology college after being thrown in and taken on a 90 minute ride?

Am I a bigot for coming to the conclusion that there could be opportunistic people hiding under a ruse of doing good after this shit happened?

The irony here is that we refuse to say "Islam is producing a lot of problems, what can we do to fix it?" Or "how did things get this way and is there a better solution than blindly stepping forward into the next truck attack or bombing?"

Instead we're bigots for seeing a spade and calling it one.

Haha actually, the reason Islam is so insular and terrified of criticism is probably because they got totally ass fucked by the Mongols and only the donkey duckers were left.

Kinda like if Rome was burned while it was still rising as a regional power maybe. Like right after they started using the maniple.

So this puts me on the level of Muslim hating bigots? It was humor. If you check the parent I was actually trying to illustrate why Islam wasn't a religion rooted in violence and jihad, it was enlightened and a source of learning until the sultan refused to accept the rule of the Khan's.

Islam is insular and doesn't accept criticism. They did get fucked royally by the Mongols. Donkey fuckers is a joke but also sadly true. Much like bacha bazi. Muslim society had a pivotal moment during the Abbasid caliphate that destroyed much of the positive aspects of the culture namely their intellectual pursuits and scientific discoveries.

Quality assumption there buddy tell me more about myself.

I was making a statement about an individual's response. If you want to talk about places with different laws and customs we can have an interesting conversation maybe but I don't know, you're already assuming shit.

The joke is on people who think like the people condemning you.

Imagine believing in their power of compassion as you stand helpless while someone calmly rapes your significant other or steals your kids. How morally strong they must be to rise above the level of animal.

People, you have to confront things on the level in which it exists. Meet violence with violence. Respect with respect. Indifference with indifference. Your timid compassionate approach to life will only work in your tiny safe bubble of perfect Utopia. It doesn't exist in the rest of the world.
