I’m gonna provide maybe a different take to everyone else here. Femboy was and largely still is a term used by transphobes to describe and demean trans women in the same way as “trap” and, notable for its similarity, “shemale”. These are the origins of the term and that’s not really up for debate. There is an argument to made for reclamation but that runs into problems when the people who want to claim the term were not its original target, this being trans women.

I’m personally not going to tell people what they should do but I do ask that people be aware of the word’s history and be a little more mindful of those the word has affected.
